Phillip Schneider, Staff Writer
Waking Times

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” ~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

When you hear the words “follow your heart,” what do you think? As it turns out, that expression is a lot more literal than you might conceive. As revealed by the non-profit research organization Institute of Heart Math, the heart is actually a complex intelligence system similar to the brain. In fact, research has concluded that the heart is more powerful at a degree of over 60 times electrically and 5,000 times magnetically than the brain.

Nathaniel Mauka, Staff Writer

Why Rebels Are So Important to Society

Phillip Schneider, Staff Writer
Waking Times

The human mind is incredibly complex. It’s been approximated that the human brain contains around 100 billion neurons, which is a testament to just how little we know about the uniqueness of the human experience. With as much as there is to understand, psychologists have spent years building conceptual frameworks of personality which serve as a way to break down the complexity into more easily digestible parts. One of the most common of these concepts is the “Big Five” dimensions of personality, however many more exist including work done by Carl Jung, as well as Dr. Carol Pearson’s “Six Archetypes We Live By,” as popularized by her book “The Hero Within.”

Neuroscience Shows How Gut Bacteria Impact Emotions

Anna Hunt, Staff Writer
Waking Times

It is becoming widely known that gut bacteria influence much more than our digestive process. The bacteria living in the digestive system impact our general health. Furthermore, scientists are now discovering that this influence goes beyond physical health. A study out of the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) discovered evidence that gut microbes affect our emotions. Specifically, they impact how we respond to fear.

Study Proves Brain and Gut Microbe Interactions

In their study, UCLA researchers examined fecal samples of 40 women to identify their gut microbiome. In addition, these women were hooked up to an MRI scanner and then shown images designed to provoke an emotional response. The study identified two types of gut bacteria that potentially impact the brain areas associated with mood and general behavior.

Mainstream Scientist Exposes the Dangerous Reality of Chemtrails and Geoengineering - Waking Times

Phillip Schneider, Staff Writer
Waking Times

Over the past few years, the issue of geoengineering has been popularized. Mainstream media, academia, and government almost unanimously support the idea of geoengineering as a perceived solution to climate change while suppressing the evidence that it has actually been in use for some time without our consent. On the other hand, there is a growing number of people who are slowly beginning to understand the reality surrounding chemtrail geoengineering, and opposition is slowly growing.

In a bold move against the establishment, Kate Marvel, a mainstream scientist who specializes in “climate change,” spoke out at a Ted Talk against the onset of climate engineering with chemtrails, also known as Solar Radiation Management or “SRM.”

How Much Wealth Does the Vatican Control? - Waking Times

Isaac Davis, Staff Writer
Waking Times

One of the world’s 7 remaining absolute monarchies, Vatican City in the heart of Rome, Italy, is a peculiar city within a city, and one of the wealthiest establishments on earth. If you’ve ever been to the Vatican, which is actually a sovereign nation, you’ve seen the unbelievable wealth owned by the Catholic Church, but how much is the Vatican really worth?

The Rothschild family is believed to hold some five times more than the combined wealth of the world’s 8 top private billionaires, but when it comes to the Vatican, it’s much more difficult to assess its overall wealth. In fact, it’s actually practically impossible to pin down the Vatican’s wealth, as the sum total depends greatly on how you add up their assets and affiliations with churches around the world, and also on who you ask.

For example, a 1987 investigation into the Vatican’s finances by Forbes magazine, claims that the Vatican was nearly broke, spending almost twice as much annually as it brought in.

Big Pharma and the Creation of a Painkiller Addiction Epidemic

Paul A. Philips, Guest
Waking Times

Many people would naturally associate drug addiction with illegal street drugs. However, there’s a different type of drug addiction. Growing exponentially and out of control Big Pharma has created an opioid painkiller addiction epidemic that’s causing more suffering and death than illegal street drugs.

In the USA the opioid painkiller prescription rate has increased by 300% over the last 10 years.  In Alabama State, for every 100 people, doctors hand out a staggering 123 opioid painkiller prescriptions. This is the highest rate in the USA.Americans are the highest opioid users making up 80% of the world’s total use.

Considering the potential for having serious side effects and their addictive nature this makes opioid painkillers the most dangerous drugs known. Around 70% of accidental deaths caused by prescription drugs have been attributed to painkillers:  Over the last 10 years, female overdose deaths through opioids have increased by 450%.

Cannabis Ruderalis - The Often Overlooked Third Species of Cannabis - Waking Times

Vic Bishop, Staff Writer
Waking Times

Most are familiar with two species of cannabis, sativa and indica, however, there is a third, often overlooked species of this healing plant, known as cannabis ruderalis. Native to Russia and Eastern Europe, ruderalis is different in a number of ways, most notably in that it has very low THC content, and is therefore not psychoactive, making it less sought after for those seeking to elevate their consciousness.

A true weed, ruderalis grows in abundance in the wild, often in disturbed soils on roadsides and on farmland, thriving near human populations. The name itself, ruderalis, stems from a Latin word, rūdera, meaning rubbish, or debris, offering insight into its characteristics.

The plant itself is short and stocky, quite smaller than indica or sativa, typically only growing to a height of 1 and 2.5 feet tall, and has a unique leaf, noticeably different from the two other popular species of cannabis.
