OUR NEW WEEK and our new month begin with a New MOON, at 4:22pm PST on Monday. This particular lunation feels like a bit of a relief to me, perhaps because it is the first one since our Full Moon on September 19 that does not include an eclipse as part of its lunar cycle.

And, our December New Moon is in Sagittarius, a fire sign known for it optimism, adventurous spirit and sense of humor — qualities we can all benefit from cultivating, especially given the intensity we’ve been through lately.

OUR NEW WEEK and our new month begin with a New MOON, at 4:22pm PST on Monday. This particular lunation feels like a bit of a relief to me, perhaps because it is the first one since our Full Moon on September 19 that does not include an eclipse as part of its lunar cycle.

And, our December New Moon is in Sagittarius, a fire sign known for its optimism, adventurous spirit and sense of humor — qualities we can all benefit from cultivating, especially given the intensity we’ve been through lately.

SAGITTARIUS is also the sign associated with our beliefs and belief systems, ideologies, life philosophies, religions, and understandings of life’s meanings. It makes sense, therefore, that the symbolic image associated with the 11th degree of Sagittarius (where the New Moon is located) brings forward themes of truth and perception:

“An explorer examines an archaic idol shaped like a crouching panther, set high above a village square. In the flickering light of a votive candle, its eyes appear alternately laughing and ominous.”

This visual image, from Martin Goldsmith’s book The Zodiac by Degrees, is accompanied by these descriptive phrases — which we can use to understand more fully the purposes of this week’s New Moon:

Astrograph  November 29 2013

December’s astrology is extraordinarily wild, even in the midst of the series of intense months we have been seeing lately, and features Venus, Jupiter, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. This is the month that Venus turns retrograde, which only happens every two years or so, each time ultimately introducing a new vision of the feminine. The Venus Retrograde begins on the very day of the Winter Solstice, December 21st and Venus remains in Capricorn about four months in all, until early March. With the heliacal rise of Venus as the Morning Star that takes place on January 17th, Venus begins her Capricorn cycle lasting for 584 days. This is a no-nonsense business orientation for the feminine planet that implies the further empowerment of women in our culture. Just as it was in the sixties, feminism is on the rise, as a definite rousing element of the ethos of these fractious times.

Happy Thanksgiving and Hanukkah

I would like to wish everyone in the United States a Happy Thanksgiving. Have a wonderful day of celebration. Hanukkah also starts the same day as Thanksgiving. Hanukkah is a Jewish celebration that is also called the Festival of Lights, or the Feast of Dedication. It is an eight day celebration commemorating the rededication of the Holy Temple (the second Temple) in Jerusalem. For those who celebrate this festival, may you manifest a wonderful holiday!

Thanksgiving is the one day of the year when people in the United States stop to give thanks for their blessings. Maybe it is time to start a new movement and give blessings every day. Maybe we could create an Attitude of Gratitude. Instead of complaining and being critical of people and things, let’s turn that energy around to one of gratitude. That might just change your life.

We used to sing a song at our church called: I Love myself the way I am. It goes like this-I love myself the way I am. There is nothing I need to change. I’m beautiful, I’m wonderful, I’m the best me I can be. That is just part of the words and the rest are also very beautiful.  Most of us never give ourselves enough credit for the beautiful Beings we have evolved into. If each one of us would just praise ourselves, be grateful for everything and manifest love, what a wonderful world we would create.

Let the drums roll and the trumpets play,
In celebration of this glorious day.
For I have arisen from the depths of my being,
To join in the song all nature is singing!
Oops... a little to close to the camera! Anyway, it is the message that counts and the message is one of "Oh Yeah!" Pop those cookies in the oven and get back out there to the party! We've all been tried and tested and challenged to follow (or create!) that recipe. We've gathered our ingredients and mixed it all up and it has been hot in the kitchen! This week it is time to let the oven work the magic that we have so painstakingly worked for...... let go, get outa town, and go wild for a change (hopefully not haha!)!
