We continue through the brambles of the land of the Black Moon, an underworld of shifting shapes and shadows. Our companions are on high alert. They are fierce warriors, each of them. Mars is skilled in all of the arts of war. Uranus wields the strike force of lightning to shock and stun. Pluto reduces to dust and captures the essence.
Our benefactor Kali follows alongside us, empowering the band of brothers, this force of the sacred masculine.
Suddenly Kali’s head jerks to the side and we all stop cold. Her gaze is focused off in the distance. She is listening. The powerful wizard Sabaoth and the great Goddess Sophia are sending a message, she tells us.
Sabaoth, the Gnostic name for the Sun, is at peak power for its solar cycle. Today, Sabaoth and Sophia, the Gnostic name for the Earth, come to us quietly but with booming strength. A lot will happen over the next few days in the world at large and our individual lives. We are entangled in a lot of ways. From one perspective the energy looks treacherous, but from another perspective we see the myriad of connections and possibilities forming new ways of living life, new ways of doing things, new ways of thinking, and new ways of being. This is called transformation and we are deeply in the throes of one.

Overcoming Mediocrity
Every Full Moon is a polarity of energies ready to be balanced and integrated into a higher form. 
Tuesday evening’s First Quarter Moon is an interesting one because, just as it indicates the next milestone lunar phase — evolving from the strong initiatory impulse from last week’s Capricorn New Moon of the 1st — this configuration also represents a further stage in the retrograde of Venus that began at the time of the December 21st Winter Solstice. The Moon has now reached the next cardinal sign of Aries, where in addition to the Sun, she squares Pluto in Capricorn. This is the phase of increased tension, associated with a “crisis of action,” meaning that we find unexpected obstacles to what we envisioned in the idealized impulse from one week past. These events bring new information to bear, that are enlightening to us in a transformational manner. Meanwhile, Venus, moving backward through the sign of Capricorn toward the Sun and Mercury, now exactly conjuncts Mercury, bringing greater consciousness to everything that we are attempting during this new month and as we look ahead to 2014.
