Reclaiming The Goddess: Stop Using The Name ISIS To Describe A Bunch Of Ignorant, Murderous F**ktards

Source: www.dailygrail.com | Original Post Date: ;November 18, 2015 –

I love history, and I love mythology. This is why, on August 30, 2001, my wife and I named our first-born Isis, after the high goddess of the ancient Egyptian pantheon. The goddess Isis, whose origins stretch back, at the very least, 4500 years from the present, was worshipped as the ideal of motherhood, as a deity who cared for the plight of others, as one who would watch over travelers, and who was ‘Great of Magic’, being able to bring life to the dead.

Her influence was such that her worship continued for more than 3000 years, not only in Egyptian culture, but also by the high civilisations of the ancient Greeks and Romans as well.

Fast forward the better part of five millennia, and it has taken just three years for a loose assortment of low-life scumbags to co-opt that name of compassion, magic and power. For whatever reasons, a group with many names – including, in Arabic, ad-Dawlah al-Islāmiyah fī ‘l-ʿIrāq wa-sh-Shām; in English Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and Islamic State (IS) – has become more popularly referred to simply as ‘ISIS’ (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria), largely through mass media repetition and then reinforcement through discussions on social media.

Ex-CIA Chief: Bush And Cheney Knew 9/11 Was Imminent, Concealed Intelligence

A new report from POLITICO corroborates a suspicion long held by critics of George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. It affirms the former president and vice president not only had intelligence warning the terror attacks of 9/11 were imminent, but that they repeatedly ignored the CIA’s warnings. The most shocking assertion is that Bush and Cheney actively attempted to hide the paper trail documenting the fact that the evidence was presented to them.

The claim comes from none other than ex-CIA Chief George Tenet, who recounted with palpable frustration how Bush, Cheney, and National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice ignored multiple warnings from both him and then-counterterrorism chief, Cofer Black, during the late spring and summer of 2001.

First They Jailed The Bankers, Now Every Icelander To Get Paid In Bank Sale

First, Iceland jailed its crooked bankers for their direct involvement in the financial crisis of 2008. Now, every Icelander will receive a payout for the sale of one of its three largest banks, Íslandsbanki.

If Finance Minister Bjarni Benediktsson has his way — and he likely will — Icelanders will be paid kr 30,000 after the government takes over ownership of the bank. Íslandsbanki would be second of the three largest banks under State proprietorship.

“I am saying that the government take some decided portion, 5%, and simply hand it over to the people of this country,” he stated.

Facing The Big Questions: From Investment Banker To Spiritual Seeker

Source: www.collectivelyconscious.net | Original Post Date: November 19, 2015 –

There are those questions: “Who am I?” “What should I do with my life?” “How do I be happy?”

You feel a certain way about these questions, I’m sure. They feel heavy, obstructive. What’s to be done with them? Consciously or not, most of us figure it’s best just to ignore them, and hope they don’t really matter. That’s certainly how I lived, until one day I slowed down, stopped, and sat with them.

I was raised by an uber-practical, atheist mother and a father convinced that science was the be-all and end-all of human existence. I was encouraged to think for myself, and to challenge authority (a little), as long as I still got a good job that paid well. Like many American families today, words like “spiritual” never made an appearance over the dinner table, and we so rarely spoke of our love for each other. I remember having some faint inkling that there was something not being said, and that that “something” was everything.

Virginia Becomes The First US State To End Veteran Homelessness

By streamlining resources, Virginia has been able to house 1,432 veterans since October 2014.

While Connecticut was the first state to end chronic veteran homelessness, Virginia is officially now the first US state to end all veteran homelessness, a monumental achievement, indeed.

As of Wednesday, the state of Virginia has officially ended chronic veteran homelessness, stated Governor Terry McAuliffe. According to the Huffington Post, the milestone declaration means that every veteran in the state has housing, except for those who were offered shelter, but declined.

The state press release shares that by streamlining resources and having the Department of Veterans Affairs, public housing groups, local utility companies and other key partners collaborate on the conundrum, Virginia has been able to house 1,432 veterans since October 2014.

The state will need to maintain its status, but Virginia has plans to secure a home for a veteran within 90 days upon finding out that they are homeless. The state will also have more homes readily available than the number of veterans without shelter to prevent the issue from presenting itself again.

Stock Prices Of Weapons Manufacturers Soaring Since Paris Attack

Source: www.theantimedia.org | Original Post Date: November 17, 2015 –

A recent report by journalist Glenn Greenwald pointed out stock prices for weapons manufacturers sharply increased just after the terrorist attacks in Paris last week. Greenwald was following the tip of Brooklyn journalist Aaron Cantú, who posted screenshots for the  recent stock performances of major weapons contractors on his Twitter page early Monday morning:

Propaganda And Islam: What You’re Not Being Told

Propaganda is the wheel by which the government steers the bus of a nation; typically driving it into war or off the cliff of humanity. It is amazing to see how many people who are otherwise rational human beings will blindly follow the herd on the matter of how subhuman a perceived national enemy is.

The western media wonderfully paints Islam as a death cult bent on world domination. Over and over again the American populace is shown footage of the atrocities committed by fanatics or of Arab men burning American flags. The problem, of course, is that this isn’t remotely representative of the Islamic population of the world. Are there Muslims who employ terrorism? Of course. Are there Christians who employ terrorism? Of course. There are even Buddhists who employ terrorism.

Let’s Not Get It Wrong This Time: The Terrorists Won After 9/11 Because We Chose To Invade Iraq, Shred Our Constitution

We destroyed ourselves with our dumb 9/11 overreactions. It’s essential not to make the same mistake again.

What is terrorism? Many are convinced that the word is inherently so vague as to be meaningless. I have never understood this. To me the definition seems singular, and obvious, and it would appear that simply understanding it is the key to avoiding terrible missteps in the aftermath of an attack like the one in Paris.

Terrorism is a tactic in which the primary objective is to produce fear, rather than direct harm. Terrorist attacks are, first and foremost, psychological operations designed to alter behavior amongst the terrorized in a way that the actors believe will serve them.

The 9/11 perpetrators killed about 3,000 people, and did about $13 billion in physical damage to the United States. That’s a lot of harm in absolute terms, but not relative to a nation of 300 million people, with a GDP of almost $15 trillion. It was a massive blow to many families, and to New York City. But to the nation as a whole that level of damage was about as dangerous as a bee sting.

After The Tragedy Of Paris, Is Peace Too Much To Ask For?

Human emotion isn’t as complex as we like to believe. When someone hurts us, we want revenge. We feel anger and hatred. We want to make those who have humiliated and scorned us suffer. We might think we’re over all that. We might, as individuals, make a conscious decision to avoid conflict in our lives, we might try (at least) to forgive, to take the moral high ground by not fighting fire with fire. Everyone knows an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, right?

But when the suffering is not ours alone, but a shared trauma– one that bonds us with other human beings we’ve never even met- all of these wise and compassionate ideas are tossed aside. On Friday, Paris was subjected to another barbaric terrorist attack, the second in less than a year. Apparently, ISIS claimed responsibility for the brutal murder of 120 innocent people, although as usual no evidence for this has been offered to the public.

As I write, French jets are attacking the city of Raqqah. They have dropped at least 20 bombs so far, and no doubt many more will be launched before the night is through. “We are going to lead a war which will be pitiless,” French President Francois Hollande has promised. But let’s take a step back from the strong emotions that terrorist attacks inevitably cause. Is all-out war really the only reaction? Is it the moral reaction? Is it a reaction which will lead to a more peaceful world? Surely not, since Islamic extremists claim to be conducting their own revenge attack for French involvement in the bombing of Syria.

Nobody Is Born A Terrorist

Could you feel empathy for someone who has committed an act of terrorism?

“Forgive them, for they know not what they do.” ~ Jesus Christ

If you’re reading this article, I’m impressed. It is quite taboo in Western culture to have any view other than complete and total contempt for those who commit heinous acts of terror. To entertain another possible view risks being the target of that scorn usually reserved for people whose actions we can comprehend the least. But if anyone is interested in living in a more peaceful world, then there is one question we should be asking that very few seem to be looking for answers to.

What experiences must a human being have, what level of pain and disconnection have they had to endure to be capable of going on a suicide mission to execute disabled people one by one in a concert hall?

From retaliation to prevention
