"Tubthumping", informally known by its prominent lyric "I Get Knocked Down",[1] [2] is a song released by the British anarcho-punk [3] band Chumbawamba [4] on 11 August 1997 through Universal Records [5] and EMI Electrola [6]. It was their most successful single, peaking at number two on the UK Singles Chart [7]. It topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Italy, New Zealand and the Republic of Ireland and peaked at number six in the United States.[2] [8]

The term "tubthumper" is commonly used for someone, often a politician, seeming to "jump on the bandwagon" with a populist notion or idea. The liner notes on the album Tubthumper [9], from which "Tubthumping" was the first single, put the song in a radical context, quoting a UK anti-road protester, Paris 1968 [10] graffiti, details about the famous McLibel case [11] and the short story "The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner [12]".
