"Blue Room" is a single by The Orb [2]. It was released on 8 June 1992 on Big Life Records [3]. Gallup [4], who compiled the UK singles chart [5], had recently decided that any release with more than 40 minutes of play would be classified as an album [6] rather than single. The Orb thus decided to record a 39:57 version of "Blue Room" for a special release. "Blue Room" is the longest single to ever reach the UK charts,[1] [7] peaking at number eight. An edited version appears on the album U.F.Orb [8].

U.F.Orb expresses The Orb's fascination with alien life with its bizarre sound samples and in the album's title itself.[8] [10] The album's single, "Blue Room", is itself a reference to the supposed Blue Room of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base [11], which was heavily investigated as a possible UFO [12] evidence holding room.[9] [13]
