An incredible swath of plasma erupted from the Sun on December 31st, 2012 over a four-hour period. NASA stated that a massive eruption on the surface of the Sun blasted out a wave of super-hot plasma so high that it could tower over 20 Earth. The length of the eruption extends about 257,495 kilometers (160,000 miles) out from the Sun. With Earth about 12,714 km (7,900 miles) in diameter, this relatively minor eruption is about 20 times the diameter of our planet.

The next tree in the woodlands alphabet is my favourite – The Willow. Letter S (Celtic Saille) and there is no Australian counterpart because Willows are ubiquitous.Its Latin name is Salix and there are about 5 or 6 varieties of it. My favourites are the Weeping Willow (salix babalonica and the Pussy Willow, Salix caprea. My mother used to call me Pussy Willow when I was a little girl.

The bark and the leaves contain salicylic acid. . It can be used for when … “Oh dear! you have a headache”. Its a good all round pain killer and great for period pains as it contains the source of aspirin.

Amid a plethora of recommendations by the authorities on how to deal with the soaring temperatures, which on Tuesday were expected to reach 36 C (97 F), people took refuge in any shade they could find to get out of the blazing heat of the Argentine summer. The National Meteorological Service renewed this Tuesday a high alert for the Argentine capital and its surrounding areas due to the high temperatures, which created scenes the total opposite of those seen these days in snowbound Europe and the United States.
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - A powerful earthquake measuring 7.5 magnitude struck a remote corner of the Pacific Coast off Alaska's panhandle, triggering a tsunami warning that prompted evacuations early Saturday in the seaside borough of Sitka, but no severe damage or injuries were reported.
The quake was centered about 60 miles southwest of Port Alexander, a town near the southern tip of Baranof Island, at a depth of 6 miles, and occurred just before midnight local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

There is no doubt we have arrived in brand new territory. Things are still very much aligning to each other, the new sun, the new earth and the new us. Life has always been a process unfolding, and so too is this elongated moment in our reality. But before I get into all of that, let me back up a bit, quite a bit.
The day before I was leaving for Virginia, I gave my landlady two checks because I broke my rent in half and was not sure I could pay it all in full by the time it was due. I had some money in savings and knew I would be able to pay for half the rent, but wasn’t sure about the whole thing, I explained to her the hazard December had on my financial flow and she understood. In the midst of talking to her, spirit hijacked my lips (they are so good at doing that to so many of us….smile.) and this really comforting message came out. I will paraphrase the message:

Last night, around 8 p.m., I had just closed the wonderful new double-sided curtain that separates the light-filled living room with the firebox from the kitchen and den to create a place of warm enclosure when needed and an open space other times, when I was gobsmacked by gratitude. An inner upwelling that just about made me fall into a faint as I moved between the firebox and my favorite fabulous chair for an evening of winter reading. This was just after the wondrous movie I had just watched, which may have had something to do with my mood.
