TORONTO – Indigenous youth, grassroots organizers, supporters and allies of the Idle No More Movement will be gathering today, May 25, beginning at 9 am at the University of Toronto, 569 Spadina Cres, in the Koffler Auditorium to discuss Chief Spence's hunger strike, the journey of the Nishiyuu walkers and most recently the Youth4Lakes march to Ottawa.

This gathering will bring together key figures and monumental events that have taken place throughout the Idle No More Movement and engage youth and grassroots people on next steps forward.

On December 10, 2012, Chief Theresa Spence began a hunger strike in the Nation's Capitol, asking for a nation-to-nation dialogue with the Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Governor General John Duncan to Canada. Chief Spence's hunger strike lasted for approximately 45 days. Chief Spence's sacrifice sparked a national outcry from youth, grassroots people and allies to honor basic human rights such as water, food and shelter.
