UPDATE: TONNES of freshwater fish are being left to die as shallow lakes across Victoria dry out in the summer heat.
Lake Boort, 1km south of Boort, is coated in a stinking layer of dead and dying carp, but neither the Department of Primary Industries, the Department of Sustainability and Environment nor the North Central Catchment Management Authority was prepared to take responsibility for preventing the fish deaths.
