Full Moon on September 19th 2013
Relax everyone! I don’t plan on telling a story for this blog posting! At least not in full! Although the story of the Emperor’s New Clothes is quite a fitting story for this Full Moon so I encourage you to read it if you have a chance.
So this up and coming Full Moon is in the sign of Pisces this month. Oddly enough, this Full Moon really stands alone in its energy and is not really connect to any other planets this month. With the purity of the Moon’s energy coming down, we can really see and feel our emotions authentically during this time. With the overlay of Pisces energy, we can really connect to our deepest fears, inadequacies and personal judgments at this time and ascertain exactly how we feel about ourselves. Some good questions to reflect upon at this time are: do I love myself? Do I feel worthy of my love? Do I feel like I am a good person? Do I judge myself too harshly?
In the tarot, Pisces is symbolized by the card ‘The Moon’. Its artwork depicts a crayfish in a pond looking to venture out onto a moonlit path that is guarded by two dogs. This crayfish seeks to venture down the path to the unknown but remains in the water due to his fear of the two feral animals guarding the path. He knows not what the path will bring him and his fear of both the uncertainty of the future and the dangers that he knows will await him keep him in his current state. On this Full Moon, we all become that crayfish. It is time to move forward through the fear and suffering that our current states bring us. Our path is unknown; and while we it may seem risky to move forward when we don’t know what the future brings; I’m going to tell you to do it anyway. Why? The answer to that is that the tarot does not end with the Moon. In fact the next card is the Sun; a card of blessings and joy!
Now in addition to the overall energy of this Full Moon, there are a couple of other influences that I would like to mention. The first thing I would like to say though is that this Pisces Moon makes all of our issues, pain and illusions plain for all to see. In the story that I mentioned above, we need to take a different perspective on it to understand the relation that it has to this Full Moon. You and I, we are the Emperor. We are divine beings! Our clothes are a symbol of our divinity and our dignity. Our egos are represented by the thief who tricks the Emperor into wearing ‘invisible clothes’ so that we walk around without divinity or dignity.
In essence this month, we are walking around naked like the Emperor in the story. Our egos have long ago robbed us of our clothing (dignity) and convinced us to parade around naked. What’s worse is that the people we walk naked amongst, have played along this whole time. Sometimes, they join us in this silly naked fashion.
Luckily, we’re at the part of the story where someone will point out to us that we are indeed naked. With Venus and Saturn in a sextile with Pluto, those whom we love most will take the time to point out to us where we divest ourselves of our dignity. This is especially true of romantic relationships. If your partner has something to say at this time, I strongly recommend listening to them. Relationships are the area of life which is really being resolved during this Full Moon. The fears we have, our negative perceptions and co-dependencies will really be highlighted this Full Moon. Now if you’re not in a romantic relationship, this equally applies to friendships as well.
I will warn you to really be open to receiving at this time as well. There will be a square between Mercury and Jupiter at this time, and you may find yourself dismissing others’ thoughts and feelings if you even entertain the notion of listening to them. Between the carelessness and unwillingness to listen to others, you could miss out on some deep and meaningful dialogue. Also, Mercury and Mars are in a sextile so you’re more willing to talk than to listen. This energy can become particularly problematic if dialogue gets heated in any way. So allow the spirit of humility to touch you as you engage both yourself and others in meaningful dialogue.
But overall, be happy that someone took the time to tell you that you’re naked. They care enough to tell you that you’re looking like a fool and they care enough to help you nab that trickster, the ego, and stop him from making a mockery of you in this area of your life. And even though your ego might be hurt, remember that the ego was the one who caused the problem in the first place! Undo his influence and go back to wearing your dignity! If you’re really willing to listen, then the healing aspect of the waters of Pisces can soothe the pain of uncovering our indignity.
So keep your eyes and ears open and be willing to accept the input of others with humility during this Full Moon. It will only make you a better and stronger person in the long run!
