The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Go Beyond the Veil with Diane Goble - AngelicView
In that instant, the physical world fell away and total knowledge of reality appeared to me. I saw the multi-dimensionality of the universe. My consciousness expanded so far beyond the physical plane that I was no longer aware of it, nor of having a body. I was so much a part of it all, there was no distinction, no duality. It appeared as a brilliant flash of light and I was allowed to see into it for a brief moment and experience a feeling of love so profound, powerful and overwhelming that I can only describe it as Pure Bliss (even though that doesn’t begin to describe it).
And, suddenly, I was whisked away and found myself traveling rapidly through a vortex toward a beautiful white light in the far, far distance. I continued to experience an overwhelming feeling of love within me and around me. There was no fear, no anxiety, no worry. I was filled with joy. I had no sense of being in a body, no feeling of limitations or boundaries; no regret that I was leaving my life. Yet, I was still me and aware that I was having this amazing experience.
My consciousness was flooded with memories of past lives and I remembered that I had made this journey many times before. I knew I was going home. Reincarnation and karma suddenly made perfect sense! I understood the Oneness of the Universe and that “God” is more than any religion ever taught (and yet all religions contain some grain of truth). The message of the Bible suddenly made complete sense to me and it wasn’t what religions taught.
God is not a human-like being sitting on a throne surrounded by angels singing praises and disembodied souls worshipping some Lord God Almighty while awaiting some Judgment Day. There is not a Heaven or a Hell for these souls to be sent to depending on whether they followed the rules or believed in this god/religion or another (these are human concepts). I saw that “God” is the Light from which every thing comes forth, of which all things are created. God is the Source of All That Is and we are the quintessence of God. We are God unfolding. Expressions of God. God Self-realizing. These are the only ways I can (now) explain it.

What Is Ego? Part 1 - InnerPeaceNow.com
The word ego can have different meanings for different people. Here, and in most spiritual teachings, ego means identification with form - any form - a thought form, emotional form or physical form. This is where the human dysfunction lies, and most of our pain arises.
This identification with form gives rise to a false identity, a false sense of self. It is often referred to (particularly in buddhism) as the illusory self. It is a mental construct that you identify with. To identify with something means that you believe it is who you are.
This false sense of self is also referred to as the egoic self, and often is called "the ego".
Who you are then becomes conceptual. The term "I" then becomes a concept. You believe that form makes up who you are - your thoughts, emotions, name, body, possessions etc. are all invested with a sense of self, a sense of "I".

In Defense of Productivity: A Spiritual Perspective - Aligned Holistics
I’m all about self-love vs. self-discipline. And, if you’re a regular reader you know that I often write about spirituality, happiness, and productivity. These topics are actually different sides of the same coin. Let me explain: Many believe that there are two ways to approach life: “doing & working” or “being guided.” The first school of thought is that in order to get anywhere you must be action-oriented, pursuing goals to live your life’s purpose. The second belief is that everything will happen as it’s meant to and that “trying” is the ego’s roadblock to divine guidance. The truth is that they’re not mutually exclusive. An interest in being productive doesn’t mean you aren’t spiritual.

Be Real - Knowing Whispers
If we want real love, if we desire prosperity, then we must shed the temporary for the permanent. The real is eternal, the false is not. The search is over when we are real.
The real is blended with the fullness of existence and the harmony of life. It is a surrender to the intimacy of existence, not a desire to control anything.

Daily Message ~ Thursday April 17, 2014 - Trinity Esoterics
If your life has taken you to a painful place, the first thing you must begin is to make your own care and self nurturing a priority. Taking care of your own needs first is an act of self love, and it is likely that you are out of balance and have neglected to give yourself the love you need for quite some time. Many of you have been taught that it is not nice to put your wellness first, that it is selfish, and that there is something noble about always putting others above yourself. That single belief system is responsible for the burn out that is so prevalent in so many loving and caring people.

The Limited and The Unlimited: Mind and Consciousness
What is the mind? It's really not complicated, the mind is simply a collection of thoughts that you're attached to. With everything that you believe is true, you make an emotional attachment to the thought and you keep it around. You hold on to it. All your memories, those are a part of the mind. What you believe about who you are, that's a subset of the mind called the ego. Your whole worldview, that's a section of the mind as well.
