International air travel could be affected by a volcanic eruption that began Tuesday in far eastern Russia, according to Russian volcano experts.

The Kamchatka Volcanic Eruption Response Team (KVERT) issued an orange alert for the Plosky Tolbachik volcano earlier this week and upgraded the notice to a red alert on Thursday.,
