What are numbers trying to tell us?
Admittedly, I can say that I’ve never had a strong affinity to the subject of numerology per se – that was until 2005 when the number 11 anomalously showed itself to me (and apparently millions of others) on a constant basis; too much to be ignored. This roused my curiosity with unabated enthusiasm and led me to suspect that the presence of numbers in our lives are genuinely attempting to speak to us.
So today, I awoke, sipping coffee and contemplating the implication, if any, of today – 12-12-12! “What does this mean? Is there any symbolic value to this sequence of numbers, especially as it relates to what many are anticipating to be a monumental watershed moment – December 21st, 2012? In fact, this was the first obvious association that cropped up in my mind. “I’ll bet there is,” I thought.
I’ve certainly come to accept that numbers represent a language; a set of energetic frequencies that carry a vibrational resonance to all other things. They must in some way affect the reality that we know and perhaps the course that events will take on many levels. We know that many traditional ancient occult circles used the symbolism associated with numbers in their ritualistic practice. Astrology is indeed connected in some way to the concept of numerology; often the two studies go hand-in-hand.
But back to the idea that this day (12-12-12) is linked or perhaps a precursor to 12-21-12, signifying an unprecedented alignment of the galactic center and all that may come with it. As tempted as I was to click through to online references of this date, I decided to instead turn inward just to see what insights might crop up on their own – sort of an intuitive exercise. Here’s what bubbled up for me this morning is I mulled over this number sequence.
Interestingly, when you take 12-12-12 and reverse the middle number, you get 12-21-12, thereby almost representing a reflection of itself, thus signifying the idea mirroring its eventual manifestation.
But even more interesting is the fact that this galactic alignment is set to happen in merely 9 days. That number 9 intrigues me even more. Let’s look at it.
9 is an oft revered number in numerology circles. I found some interesting historical affiliations on the website, Library of Halexandria. From their page on “9’s” it says:
“In Numerology, the positive characteristics of nine (9) are selflessness, fulfillment, completion, universality, universal understanding, interrelatedness, compassion, idealism tolerance, forgiveness, generosity, benevolence, humanitarianism, emotionalism, and justice. Nine is also associated with accomplished artists and thinkers who are inspired by universal truths. Simultaneously, 9 can represent negative characteristics, from selfishness to extravagance to vulgarity — essentially the opposites of the positive characteristics.
In the base 10 system, where all numbers are represented by ten distinct forms (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9), nine is the final number. As such, it becomes a limit, a bound, or the ultimate attainment. The Greeks called “nine” the horizon, where the Ennead, or the nothing/void lay beyond. Expressions such as “a cat has nine lives”, a “cat-o’-nine-tails”, “the whole nine yards”, “cloud nine”, “dressed to the nines”, “a stitch in time saves nine”, and “possession is nine point (or nine-tenths) of the law” are all variations of the concept of the ninth level being the nth degree, the highest level, or the maximum possibility.”
Additionally, consider the general time period it takes for a child to be birthed from conception: 9 months! Metaphorically, we might look at today’s date as the seed, needing a Universal gestation period of nine days to begin its alignment and birth into a new world, that of December 21st, 2012.
I also find it interesting in many discussions around this rare galactic alignment, numerous references to the ending of one cycle and the beginning of a new. Curiously, when you look at 360 degrees representing a circle or full cycle and you reduce that number (360) down to one digit, you get 9! In numerology circles nine represents the ending of a cycle.
Additionally, when you add 12-12-12, again reducing it to a single digit you get – you guessed it: 9! The same goes for 12-21-12!
So as I ponder the significance of this date, 12-12-12; deciding to intuitively decipher its meaning – I’m left with the idea that there is something intriguing, not necessarily about the number 12 in and of itself, but that of 9 and our countdown to what promises to be one of the most anticipated events of our lives!
It seems that whatever their meaning, numbers are a language that they know we have the ability to understand. With a little in-sight, perhaps we can begin a dialogue that will open up a whole new world of understanding as we move toward that new world that begins unfurling on December 21, 2012!
