WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) -- Thousands of South County residents gathered along the entire stretch of the Misquamicut shoreline on Friday morning.
They linked themselves together by holding hands in order to symbolically show the strong sense of community that allowed them to overcome severe damage brought upon by Superstorm Sandy.
Beaches are already starting to reopen, and several businesses in Misquamicut should have their doors open soon.
