A recognition of alliance is growing among people in diverse arenas of activism, whether political, social, or spiritual. The holistic acupuncturist and the sea turtle rescuer may not be able to explain the feeling, “We are serving the same thing,” but they are. Both are in service to an emerging Story of the People that is the defining mythology of a new kind of civilization.

I will call it the Story of Interbeing, the Age of Reunion, the ecological age, the world of the gift. It offers an entirely different set of answers to the defining questions of life. Here are some of the principles of the new story:

The ego self, the part that seeks to keep you small and separate, has no interest in your enlightenment at all, and will actively block stepping into your authentic power and truth in order to preserve its own leadership position in your life. The ego itself, is an essential part of the human experience. It is only problematic when it is blocking your growth and expansion, which it frequently does, particularly to those beginning on a spiritual path.

There is a belief that those of masculine energy have more ego than those who are of feminine energy. This is not necessarily the case. Ego presents just as strong in females, just in a different way. The male ego says, “Look at me! I am more special than everyone else!” The female ego says, “Don’t look at me! I am not as special as everyone else!” Make no mistake about it, both are strong manifestations of the ego perpetuating separation consciousness and blocking expansion, truth and highest purpose. (Of course, both male and female can have experiences with both of these, and other manifestations of ego such as fear and doubt, as well – the above is merely a common example.)

As you have perhaps already envisaged, this period will be one of intense goings-on on all levels. Some of it has already started to surface, but as the frequencies of these incoming energies continue to heighten, so too will all of the ensuing effects from them. You see, the buttons are already being pushed, and when we say buttons, we refer of course to whatever it is that you are carrying with you. And this time, we are referring to those buttons that activate so much of your innate qualities, those that have been dormant for such a long time, but who will start to be awakened one by one as these energies come in and start to nudge them into being.

Nudge is perhaps not the best word to use here, as the momentum of these energies is more than a little intense. In any way, they will serve to activate so much of you, and as things get into a roll, you will find yourself rolling along with it at en ever increasing speed. And as such, keeping your balance will perhaps become more than a little challenging for you all, even if you have become more than adept at this from earlier rounds.
