Large Scale Study Shows Nuts Decrease Cancer Risk By More Than One-Third

Writing in Nature’s British Journal of Cancer, the team behind the new analysis reported that consumption of nuts – including tree nuts such as almonds, Brazil nuts, cashews, hazelnuts, macadamias, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts – was found to be inversely associated with risk of pancreatic cancer, independent of other potential risk factors for pancreatic cancer.

 

The data, from a large-scale prospective study, investigated the association between nut consumption and risk of pancreatic cancer in more than 75,000 women who took part in the Nurses’ Health Study, and had no previous history of cancer.”Frequent nut consumption is inversely associated with risk of pancreatic cancer in this large prospective cohort of women, independent of other potential risk factors for pancreatic cancer,” explained the research team – led by Dr Ying Bao of Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Harvard Medical School.

A newly released report from the watchdog group Essential Information alleges that powerful corporations spy on and sabotage the very nonprofit groups dedicated to keeping them in check.

According to the report, titled “Spooky Business,” a global network of former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National Security Agency (NSA) employees work at the beck and call of corporations like Walmart, Monsanto, Coca Cola, Burger King, McDonald’s, Kraft, Shell, BP and others, undermining consumer protections and enforcing a pro-business agenda.

Cyclone Alessia: Northern Territory on alert as cyclone approaches the coast

Northern Territorians are being urged to make preparations as Tropical Cyclone Alessia approaches the coast. The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a cyclone warning for coastal areas from Cockatoo Island to the Western Australia-Northern Territory border. A cyclone watch is in place for coastal areas from the Western Australia-Northern Territory border to Point Stuart, including Darwin and the Tiwi Islands. As of 6:30am (CST) this morning, the category-one cyclone was estimated to be about 870 kilometres from Darwin. The weather bureau says gales may develop along the northern Kimberley coast today as the system approaches. Alessia is expected to brush the northern Kimberley coast around Kalumburu overnight.

6.5 earthquake hits south Pacific; no tsunami warning

The U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.5 has been recorded in the south Pacific. The agency's National Earthquake Information Center said the tremor was at 0748 GMT Saturday. It was centred 322 kilometres (199 miles) west-northwest of Neiafu, Tonga, and 438 kilometres (271 miles) east of Lambasa, Fiji. There were no immediate reports of damage. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did not issue a warning, explaining that the quake was centred too far underground.

Defending their pensions from the threat of ever-deepening austerity cuts, as many as ten thousand off-duty police officers and state security agents in Portugal found themselves on the other side of the barricades Thursday night as they faced down their on-duty colleagues in riot control gear.

The Light Wave of the November 23rd Aion alignment (a merkaba forms around the Sun) is already pouring in as I write this. The gateway of November 23 – 29 is upon us and I AM excited for this passage as these dates have presented to me for a while.

We have intense photonic-magnetic light hitting our beloved star, the Sun, which contains transformative rays for those on the Christed path, and the gift of awakening for others. Many wayshowers and light servers have been in deep release of 3D/4D systems, programs, and structures for weeks. Some have released soul and family monad structures and wounds; consciously taking one for the team. This work is necessary if you have dischord in your lineage; it can tether you to collective belief systems. You’ll feel the release in the physical (pain, aches, illness) as it detaches. Since the physical is trying to keep up with the photonic demands for freedom and harmony, it is best to do this work now.

Releasing has been purposeful and the light will continue to push the envelope for initiates. As you consciously and willfully surrender to the changes within, the external world will begin to look very different. As you lift your own veils – the barriers between you and your true Self – there is clarity and a deep sense of wisdom. Hold your heart and breathe yourself back to that Source Point in the Heart Center as often as needed.

A secret court order that authorised a massive trawl by the National Security Agency of Americans' email and internet data was published for the first time on Monday night, among a trove of documents that also revealed a judge's concern that the NSA "continuously" and "systematically" violated the limits placed on the program.

The order by the Fisa court, almost certainly its first ruling on the controversial program and published only in heavily redacted form, shows that it granted permisson for the trawl in part beacause of the type of devices used for the surveillance. Even the judge approving the spying called it a “novel use” of government authorities.

NEW YORK—I was in federal court here Friday for the sentencing of Jeremy Hammond to 10 years in prison for hacking into the computers of a private security firm that works on behalf of the government, including the Department of Homeland Security, and corporations such as Dow Chemical. In 2011 Hammond, now 28, released to the website WikiLeaks and Rolling Stone and other publications some 3 million emails from the Texas-based company Strategic Forecasting Inc., or Stratfor.

Primrose – Pretty Little Plant with a Powerful Medicinal Punch

Along with its calming effect, primrose was a common remedy for gout, paralysis and muscular rheumatism in the earliest days of medicine. Pliny himself often wrote of the power of the primrose to cure such ailments.

The plant contains salicylates, which are a main ingredient of aspirin and have powerful anti-inflammatory effects. Often an infusion of the root, which should be harvested after two or three years, can be a natural option for headache relief, cough and other bronchial problems.

The seeds of the evening primrose have often been touted for their anti-inflammatory effect as well. The seed oil in particular is high in fatty acids and has been used in the treatment of PMS symptoms, arthritis and the skin condition eczema.

While minimal research has been performed, one study concluded that the gamma linolenic acid in primrose seed oil does aid in battling the inflammation associated with rheumatoid arthritis.

Aftere a review of over 30 human-based studies, evening primrose oil was found by researchers to be an effective treatment for multiple skin conditions including eczema and dermatitis when applied topically.
