Less than a week after the U.S. Senate defeated Sanders’ proposed amendment to the food bill, which would have given states the right to require that manufacturers of GMO foods label their products accordingly, the Vermont Senator said he remains unbowed.

PASSAU, Germany (AP) — Swollen rivers gushed into the old section of Passau in southeast Germany on Monday, as water rose in the city to levels not seen in more than five centuries.
The city was one of the worst hit by flooding that has spread across a large area of central Europe following heavy rainfall in recent days. At least eight people were reported to have died and nine were missing due to floods in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Czech Republic.
The German news agency dpa said the water levels were the highest recorded since 1501 in Passau, a city that dates from before Roman times.
These delicate wisps of gas make up an object known as SNR B0519-69.0, or SNR 0519 for short. The thin, blood-red shells are actually the remnants from when an unstable progenitor star exploded violently as a supernova around 600 years ago. There are several types of supernovae, but for SNR 0519 the star that exploded is known to have been a white dwarf star — a Sun-like star in the final stages of its life.
SNR 0519 is located over 150 000 light-years from Earth in the southern constellation of Dorado (The Dolphinfish), a constellation that also contains most of our neighboring galaxy the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC). Because of this, this region of the sky is full of intriguing and beautiful deep sky objects.

Astronomers using the National Science Foundation's Very Long Baseline Array (VLBA) found that the area of the galaxy that holds Earth and the rest of the solar system is a prominent feature of the spiral galaxy.
The solar system exists in a part of the galaxy known as the Local Arm. Until now, scientists thought that this particular part of the Milky Way was just a tiny spur between two large branches known as the Sagittarius and Perseus arms.

But in this case, it will be futile, as now, the most profound wake up call ever has been given to your very core, and as such, every cell in your body will become alert to this call. And so, you will feel yourself affected by the stretching and yawning, and indeed also some rather intense protests, as so much starts to awaken and change within.
Yes, you are a human being. The Reality is that you are far more. This is not putting down your human beingness even as you are far more than a human being. To be a human being is a great thing. It is nothing to sneeze at or apologize for.
At the same time, you live in a body, and you live in the world. Most likely, you are not a saint yet nor do you have to be. You are a learning growing human being. You have to eat, provide for yourself and others. You swim in a sea, or you forage in a forest. Admittedly, your body has its limits. Your soul does not. We are talking about you now as a vibrant human being.
There are two paths to choose between today. One involves moving quickly through situations, putting ourselves through things that are avoidable, and putting undue pressure on ourselves. This path will cause us to burn out quickly and stop things in their tracks.

Protests continue to swell across Turkey as tens of thousands of people joined the fourth consecutive day of anti-government actions in which "the demands of the protesters have broadened with their numbers."
"We have had enough of the way [Prime Minister Recep Tayyip] Erdogan understands democracy and the way he wants to dictate his rules," Ozgur Aksoy, an engineer demonstrating in Gezi Park on Monday, told Agence France-Presse. "It's not only about the park here, it is about everything else in the last 10 years. People are angry, very angry." Justin Wedes, one of the original organizers of Occupy Wall Street and who is in Turkey now, describes how the protest that started out to save a public park quickly morphed into something much bigger.
