Asteroid 2012 DA14's Friday Flyby: A Stargazer's Guide

Scientists and amateur observers alike are eagerly awaiting Friday's historic flyby of asteroid 2012 DA14, which will zoom inside Earth's ring of geosynchronous satellites.

At its nearest approach Friday (Feb. 15), the 150-foot-wide (45 meters) asteroid 2012 DA14 will be just 17,200 miles (27,000 kilometers) from Earth — the closest encounter with such a large space rock that researchers have ever known about in advance.

Astronomers will take full advantage of the flyby, tracking the near-Earth asteroid with a variety of instruments to learn more about it and space rocks in general. And some well-placed skywatchers may be able to follow 2012 DA12 's path across the heavens Friday as well, weather permitting.

As of today, many will feel a quickening in the atmosphere, and rightly so. You have once again passed through another whirlwind of energetic updates, and as such, it is time to get another breather before the next one hits you. Ohhh the state of flux all of life is in, again, right now.  Change at its core.  The acceleration or deceleration of every person on this planet!  It seems January, we became suited up to arrive at the greatest choice points of our collective lives as we stepped into February.  At any given time, there really is only two real choices; hold on or let go (fear vs trust.)

I could have never imagined the earth we arrived on in January was a gateway point.  Kind of like the pit-stop area on a race track.  But, there’s a lot I cannot even imagine, maybe that is what makes these times so incredibly fun and interesting to me.

My first lady on the field yesterday gave us more understanding of what is currently happening than I ever realized during her reading.  It took me until about the 3rd reading of the day to feel and understand the huge thing that is happening on all of earth right now.

Greetings, my beloved brethren of Earth, I Am Magatha of the Agarthan civilization. I am well aware that a rather great lapse in time has passed in your Earth time in which I have not presented myself and for that I apologize. I will explain now why this has been the case.
 
My dear Brethren of Earth, a lot is now in the process of shifting in your reality: mountains are litterally being moved as it were just to put the whole process in motion towards global Ascension and Disclosure. All those processes have now again speeded up to full development and consequently require an enormous support from all of us towards all of you and towards Gaia. Since these processes are all so intense for all of you, our advantitious assistance in the matter is more than welcome and needed as a lot will duly be achieved in this now moment.

The photographer was questioned about his photograph, and he claimed that the objects were actually in the sky, as opposed to a film or camera anomaly, and that the objects simply stood still for several minutes.

Once again, I am alone on the day when the world celebrates romantic relationships. Only a couple weeks ago I thought it would be different this year; but it's not. It's also my son's birthday; and I'm happy for him that he is in a loving relationship with a beautiful young lady who really loves him. I'm also thankful for all of those that have been able to connect with someone they feel is special enough to share intimacy with - hopefully on all levels. It would be my prayer that everyone who wants that in their life would be able to co-create it with a partner in the very near future. Meanwhile, I remain in love with life that I feel is getting better all the time. As one lady said to me once, "I think you're in love with love." She was right. I am in love with love and life

DOHA, Qatar -- An amount of freshwater almost the size of the Dead Sea has been lost in parts of the Middle East due to poor management, increased demands for groundwater and the effects of a 2007 drought, according to a NASA study.

The study, to be published Friday in Water Resources Research, a journal of the American Geophysical Union, examined data over seven years from 2003 from a pair of gravity-measuring satellites which is part of NASA's Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment or GRACE. Researchers found freshwater reserves in parts of Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran along the Tigris and Euphrates river basins had lost 117 million acre feet (144 cubic kilometers) of its total stored freshwater, the second fastest loss of groundwater storage loss after India.

About 60 percent of the loss resulted from pumping underground reservoirs for ground water, including 1,000 wells in Iraq, and another fifth was due to impacts of the drought including declining snow packs and soil drying up. Loss of surface water from lakes and reservoirs accounted for about another fifth of the decline, the study found.

Big Story Weather from February 13: A frontal boundary pushed off the Gulf Coast yesterday finally allowing for all the heavy rain to leave the region as some places have gotten over three inches of rainfall over the past couple of days. A clipper system pushed through the Northern Plains bringing more light snow to the area, while the West enjoyed high pressure.



Weather Outlook for February 14: Low pressure moving through the Great Lakes will bring some snow to the region today. High pressure builds in over the Gulf Coast which will bring a much needed break to the area with plenty of sunshine. High pressure will bring partly cloudy skies from the Northern Plains westward into the Rockies and over along the majority of the West Coast. Below is the weather for a few select cities.
