The authority chairman, Dr Russell Reichelt, said he recognised the amount of debate and community concern the project had generated and shared with everyone a strong desire to ensure the reef remained a great natural wonder into the future. “This approval is in line with the agency’s view that port development along the Great Barrier Reef coastline should be limited to existing ports,” Reichelt said. “As a deepwater port that has been in operation for nearly 30 years, Abbot Point is better placed than other ports along the Great Barrier Reef coastline to undertake expansion as the capital and maintenance dredging required will be significantly less than what would be required in other areas. “It’s important to note the seafloor of the approved disposal area consists of sand, silt and clay and does not contain coral reefs or seagrass beds.” North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation had applied to dump within the Great Barrier Reef marine park and, although the authority was asked to make a decision within 10 days of the environment minister, Greg Hunt, approving the project in December, it asked for an extension. North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation is also expected to come up with an alternative site that is also expected to be within the marine park.

pills money flu 263x164 Exposed: Big Pharma Hides $450 Million of Influenza Drugs & Research from Public

The UK government was caught stockpiling over 450 million worth of an influenza drug called Timiflu. This was pejorative enough, but the stockpile discovery itself has brought attention to an even shadier practice, and a problem which contaminates the US FDA and UK regulatory bodies’ reports on pharmaceuticals even more completely. In a phrase – they just keep lying.

~Space Weather Update~WEEKEND STORM WARNING~ Big Sunspots

Lia's picture

WEEKEND STORM WARNING: Polar geomagnetic storms are possible on Saturday, Feb. 8th, when a solar wind stream and a minor CME are expected to hit Earth's magnetic field. This will not be a major storm, but the double-impact could spark high-latitude auroras. Aurora alerts: text, voice

BIG SUNSPOTS: All week long, big sunspot AR1967 has has been crackling with activity, seemingly on the edge of producing an X-class solar flare. That hasn't happened. However, a new sunspot growing alongside AR1967 could push things over the edge. Emerging active region AR1968 has an unstable 'beta-gamma-delta' magnetic field that harbors energy for strong explosions. NOAA forecasters estimate an 60% chance of M-class solar flares and a 20% chance of X-class solar flares on Feb. 7th. Solar flare alerts: text, voice

Last night in Key West, Florida, Scott Wilson looked out over the Gulf of Mexico and saw the two big sunspots melting into the sea:

An important new manuscript accepted for publication in the journal Food Chemistry disproves the widely held notion that GMO crops are ‘substantially equivalent’ to their traditional counterparts; a notion which forms the basis for national and international agencies – including the U.S. FDA, the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization – declaring genetically modified foods to be safe without having performed adequate health risk assessments.

The new manuscript titled, “Compositional differences in soybeans on the market: Glyphosate accumulates in Roundup Ready GM soybeans,”[i] was submitted by a team of researchers from Norway and the United Kingdom who explored the compositional differences of 31 soybean batches from Iowa, USA, which consisted of three different types

Marijuana advocates in Alaska have obtained more than enough signatures to ensure voters there will have the opportunity this year to weigh-in on a measure that could legalize recreational marijuana, state officials admitted this week. As of Tuesday, a petition that would let residents of the forty-ninth state vote to make pot legal for adults surpassed a 30,169 signature threshold, all but clearing the way for the issue to appear in ballot booths during elections there on August 19.

~Unity and Awareness~

Written by Wes Annac, Conscious Oneness

As consciousness continues to rise, humanity is being drawn together like never before.

We’re starting to understand our interconnected nature and the fact that we’re meant to run this planet together in the name of harmony and progress, and even though the number of people who’ve tapped into this truth is small right now, it’s poised to grow and grow.

The changemakers who’ve stepped up to the plate so far are paving the way for the rest of humanity to awaken and start expressing the divine qualities, and by the time our budding conscious revolution blooms into a planetary drive for divine change, we’ll have learned the importance of coming together.

The idea that we’re one consciousness experiencing itself is being understood by a growing number of people who are using the resulting inspiration to awaken others, and this is causing an inevitable snowball effect in the collective consciousness.

'You shall not pass!' Native American groups vow to block Keystone XL pipeline

A group of Native Americans and supporters demonstrate in support of the 'Idle No More' First Nations Canadian movement in downtown Detroit, Michigan.

An alliance of Native American communities has promised to block construction of the northern leg of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, which, if approved by President Barack Obama, would carry crude tar sands oil from western Canada through the US to Texas. In a joint statement entitled ‘No Keystone XL pipeline will cross Lakota lands,’ Honor the Earth, the Oglala Sioux Nation, Owe Aku, and Protect the Sacred declared their support for resistance action against energy corporation TransCanada’s building of the parts of the pipeline planned to cut through Montana, South Dakota, and Nebraska before meeting with a constructed line in Kansas. The existing line would then move the crude tar sands through Oklahoma and into Texas for refineries on the Gulf Coast.

After a powerful winter storm knocked out power for more than one million people in the Northeastern United States, hundreds of thousands remain in the dark as utility crews rush to restore electricity. Dubbed “Winter Storm Nika” by the Weather Channel, this was the second blizzard to strike the Northeast this week. Nika dropped more than a foot of snow in some areas, but it did the most damage by creating such thick layers of ice on trees and power lines that some residents are expected to go days without electricity.

The Lost Gospel of Thomas: The Original Mystical Teachings of Yeshua

Lia's picture

Ted Nottingham offers a special presentation on key passages of the Gospel of Thomas, considered to be older than the four Gospels and source material for them. In these sayings of Jesus, lost to the world for two thousand years, we find a depth of wisdom and spiritual knowledge (gnosis) that is utterly transformational to those who would meditate on them and apply them to the moments of their lives.
The presentation is published, along with additional material and the book can be found on Amazon and Kindle:

The value of the bitcoin cryptocurrency has dropped below $690 per unit on one of the world’s biggest exchanges Mt. Gox, after the Japanese trader temporarily stopped withdrawals to fix technical problems. "In our efforts to resolve the issue being encountered by various bitcoin withdrawals, it was determined that the increase in the flow of withdrawal requests has hindered our efforts on a technical level. To understand the issue thoroughly, the system needs to be in a static state," according to a statement released Friday, February 7.

“In order for our team to resolve the withdrawal issue it is necessary for a temporarily pause on all withdrawal requests to obtain a clear technical view of the current processes,” the MT Gox team said, promising to provide an update for their customers on Monday, February 10. Friday’s plunge is more evidence of bitcoin volatility. Its value went above $1,000 in January and fell to below $690 on Friday's announcement, recovering to $730 in about an hour.
