How to Deal With Difficult Emotions (and See the Wisdom Within Them)

HJ: Difficult emotions can be doorways to deep self healing and awareness, but they can also be uncomfortable and so we tend to suppress or try to escape them… but, counterintuitively, accepting and embracing them is the key to having them pass rapidly and being able to see the wisdom that they contain for us.  Asking yourself the question, “Why am I having this reaction to this situation?” or going even deeper, “What must I believe is true in order to be having this reaction?” will allow you to discover the root cause of the negative emotion.  As you then begin to heal this part of yourself, the negative emotion stops arising altogether.  However, in order to understand where it comes from in the first place, you must not suppress or escape, you must accept what is happening knowing there is great wisdom within it for you.  Acceptance is ultimately the key to freedom, healing and full liberation of consciousness.

Let the World Come to You

What does ease in life mean to you? It could be lots of money though I haven’t noticed that having lots of money necessarily brings more ease to those who have it. Then they have to work hard at keeping it or doubling it.

Ease could well be not working so hard at life and not spending yourself all over the place. You do not have to be the best person in the world or the most loved. Conserve your energy.

I do not speak of being lazy. I speak of your not having to please everyone in order to win their approval. This is a lot of work. It is never done. You don’t really get anywhere. If you were a car, it’s like you get a temporary fill-up, yet you have a leak in your tank. You may spend too much energy for too little.

You are here on Earth to give love, this is true. It is not love to over-spend yourself, however. Come to the point where you love yourself, and you will give lots of love without over-spending. Likely you have been over-extending yourself. Life is to live yet not to use up all your energy on what doesn’t really matter and then not have enough energy left over for your needs. This is working your fingers to the bone for a pittance.

There is no virtue in getting wound up and worn out. I never said to cut yourself short. Better to give all your food away than all your energy. You don’t have to hunt for yourself and your value. You are already found. I found you in My heart and in My thoughts long before you came to Earth. I did not find you wanting. Why, then, do you find yourself wanting?

11 Techniques to Stay Emotionally Centered and Calm With Difficult Family Members

HJ: The funny thing about family is that they trigger within us the most deeply held limiting beliefs, emotional patterns and wounds, so while it can be extremely frustrating, it can also be a way to identify your most deeply hidden patterns for rapid healing.  Most people just immediately react emotionally, but if you pause and ask yourself instead, “What must I believe is true about myself in order to be reacting to this?” or “What pattern is this person triggering within me?” or something along those lines you can quickly identify the source of the emotional issues you are facing.

Point in case, someone can only trigger you to the extent that you hold limiting beliefs and emotional blockages around a given issue/topic/situation.  So if you are being triggered, it means something is there.  Instead of reacting at the person doing the triggering, look within and discover the wound.  Then by using many of the techniques and articles outlined on this site, you can begin the process of self-healing and never be triggered again!

The system we live in is a slow burn into a personal and private prison of negative emotion perpetuated by antiquated ideals in regards to energy, government, and finance. Our society isn’t functioning from a place of teaching us how to live healthy lives and thrive in Wellness, rather we are taught how to slowly die instead.

From the smallest proton to the vastness of the Universe there is a constant and consistent force, and that force is energy. Energy never dies, it just changes form – and this is also the definition of Spirit or“God”. We don’t have to be “religious” or use something as simple as science to “prove” that energy has an effect on each and every one of us.  We can use our understanding of energy to determine how our society shapes and forms our emotional and spiritual health to get a basic foundation of how energy profoundly influences our daily lives.

In June 1936 Max Hahn and his wife Emma were on a walk beside a waterfall near to London, Texas, when they noticed a rock with wood protruding from its core. They decided to take the oddity home and later cracked it open with a hammer and a chisel. What they found within shocked the archaeological and scientific community. Embedded in the rock was what appeared to be some type of ancient man made hammer.

A team of archaeologists analysed and dated it. The rock encasing the hammer was dated to more than 400 million years old. The hammer itself turned out to be more than 500 million years old. Additionally, a section of the wooden handle had begun the metamorphosis into coal.  The hammer’s head, made of more than 96% iron, is far more pure than anything nature could have achieved without assistance from relatively modern smelting methods.

As hard as it can sometimes be, I think it’s time to lighten up and stop taking life so seriously. Yes, life is serious in a lot of ways, but it can also be fun if we let it.

When we refuse to let stress or negativity take us out of our center, we’ll discover that life can be as heavenly and joyous as we’ve always wanted it to be. A lot of seekers look to a higher state of consciousness for the joy and bliss we all want to find, and I think it’s important to embrace spiritual practices like meditation, music, art, etc.

When we routinely practice them, we’ll notice that we feel more aligned and willing to take on the challenges we face each day. Our ability to make our lives (and the lives of the people around us) easier will grow as we make an effort to align with spirit every day, and one of the best gifts we’ll be given will be the ability to see life positively.

Study: Antidepressants Can Cause Long-Term Depression

Shortly after Prozac became the best-selling drug in the world in the early 1990s, I proposed that there was little or no evidence for efficacy, but considerable evidence that the drug would worsen depression and cause severe behavioral abnormalities. I attributed much of the problem to “compensatory changes” in neurotransmitters as the brain resists the drug effect. Since then, in a series of books and articles, I’ve documented antidepressant-induced clinical worsening and some of its underlying physical causes. Now the idea has gained ground in the broader research community and has recently been named “tardive dysphoria.”

It has been apparent for many years that chronic exposure to SSRI antidepressants frequently makes people feel apathetic or less engaged in their lives, and ultimately more depressed. In my clinical experience, this is a frequent reason that family members encourage patients to seek help in reducing or stopping their medication. SSRI-induced apathy occurs in adults and includes cognitive and frontal lobe function losses. (See Barnhart et al., 2004; Deakin et al., 2004; Hoehn-Saric et al., 1990). It has also been identified in children. Adults with dementia are particularly susceptible to antidepressant-induced apathy.

Rights and Responsibility

Relinquish the past. Relinquish holding onto anything. Relinquish holding onto things and people and old thoughts. When you relinquish holding on, you are open.

When you relinquish holding on, for instance, you let go of greed. When you relinquish your hold, you automatically let go of many things you have wanted to be free from for a long time.

You haven’t wanted to be greedy or jealous or resentful. You haven’t enjoyed the experience of any of them. The only reason you would cheat or steal comes from a limited idea you have kept to you. You have thought that by stealth, for an example, is the way you can have what you want and/or you think that something is owed you and, therefore, it is supposed to be yours, that you have as much right to it as anyone else who claims it now. I say enough of limited ideas. Relinquish them. Toss them in the wastebasket. Be done with them. Such ideas do not serve you. They are not in your best interest or anyone’s, and therefore not in the interest of the world. Honestly, for your sake, relinquish all such left-over ideas.

Relinquish the idea that you are lacking or forsaken or abandoned. For God’s sake, don’t abandon yourself. Don’t throw yourself into the trash.

All you have to do is to remember Who you really are. You are a fortunate one. Why not see yourself as fortunate? Whatever has gone wrong, plenty has gone right. Confess. Admit it to yourself. No one has to know. No one else. Tell it to yourself, and soon everyone will notice your sterling good fortune.
