The Truth About Dishonesty

We like to think of ourselves as good honest people and many of us that recognise our weaknesses in this area are honestly striving to be better each day.  What does the role of forgiveness and starting each day with a new slate have on our ability to stop rationalizing and begin being honest?

Are you more honest than a banker? Under what circumstances would you lie, or cheat, and what effect does your deception have on society at large?

Check out this interesting animation where these ideas are explored and they discuss a way that we can shift society into a better world.

Research: Bisphenol A (BPA) Causes 100x More Harm Than Previously Imagined

A new study reveals just how profoundly misled we are about Bisphenol A and its analogs: they are at least 100x more toxic than we previously imagined.

An alarming new study establishes that the commonly used chemical bisphenol A used in tens of thousands of consumer products, and its lesser known but increasingly prevalent analogs, bisphenol S and F, are several orders of magnitude more disruptive to the endocrine systems of the developing male human fetus than previous toxicological risk assessments were capable of determining.

Global Consciousness & The Noosphere

Noosphere
Damien Lafont, Guest
Waking Times

If you read this article you are probably one of those people who feel the connections around us and who feel there is something greater, something much larger than ourselves. We are indeed in a world made of connections and that is what gives us more energy and what makes us feel alive. The connections exist at different degrees and have different dimensions. There are connections with our past and our ancesters, with Earth and Nature or with animals. But immediately we think of connections between people, their mind, their ideas, their thoughts and consciousness.

The idea of a higher level of consciousness exists in ancient to modern forms of spirituality and philosophy. Many phenomenons also raise the question of a higher level of consciousness. Near death experiences (NDE), chamanism, out of body experiences, all of them open new perspectives. However, if the Eastern world and the ancient cultures have never forgotten the link with a greater spirit, the Western world has only started recently to make more efforts in this direction...

You can imitate - knowledgeability is imitation. A buddha says something: you interpret it, you play church, you cram it in your mind, you repeat it. This is childish.

Be childlike not childish. Childlikeness is spontaneity. A child is fresh with no answers, no accumulated experience; he has, really, no memory, he acts; whatever comes through his being, he acts. He is not motivated, not thinking about results, about the future; he is innocent.

'Weather Bomb' - Explosive cyclogenesis in the Atlantic

A low pressure system underwent what is known as "explosive cyclogenesis" - or less formally became a "weather bomb" - when it intensified rapidly with a steep decline in pressure, between Greenland and Iceland late on Monday and early on Tuesday.

The system has brought strong wind to Iceland and to the United Kingdom and Ireland, with particularly high waves on the open sea. The waves were described as "phenomenal" in the shipping forecast for the Rockall area.

The low pressure system, known in some countries as Alexandra, has also brought strong wind to northern areas of mainland Europe.

The Gifts and Benefits of Dance

by Snezhina Gulubova

dance_OMTimes

“Dance is the hidden language of the soul” -Martha Graham

Dance is the outer expression of our inner perception of life and all its aspects. It is a non-verbal method of communication utilizing body movements, facial expressions and hand positions in tune with music. There are countless dance styles around the world, each representing a way of life, different cultures, ethnicities, belief systems, social structures, traditions and aspirations.

What is common amongst all these forms is that each of these dances is a representation of something that touches our individual soul-place, emotion, person, event, goal, nature and all else that life offers. As such, the individual and communal benefits of dance are far deeper reaching than the common perception of dancing for fun, and something to enjoy watching.

Animals Know More About Healing Herbs Than Humans Do

In a world where we're ignorantly told that synthetic pharmaceuticals are good for us, and natural remedies are bad, it's nice to see mainstream science acknowledging that animals successfully use natural medicines:

Many animal species have created their own pharmacies from ingredients that commonly occur in nature.

Birds, bees, lizards, elephants, and chimpanzees all share a survival trait: They self-medicate. These animals eat things that make them feel better, or prevent disease, or kill parasites like flatworms, bacteria, and viruses, or just to aid in digestion. Even creatures with brains the size of pinheads somehow know to ingest certain plants or use them in unusual ways when they need them.

Anyone who has seen a dog eat grass during a walk has witnessed self-medication. The dog probably has an upset stomach or a parasite. The grass helps them vomit up the problem or eliminate it with the feces.

The science of animal self-medication is called zoopharmacognosy, derived from the roots zoo (“animal”), pharma (“drug”), and gnosy (“knowing”). It’s not clear how much knowing or learning is involved, but many animals seem to have evolved an innate ability to detect the therapeutic constituents in plants. Although the evidence is entirely circumstantial, the examples are plentiful. The practice is spreading across the animal kingdom in sometimes surprising ways.

Are You In Love, Or Are You Emotionally Dependent?

Immature love says: ‘I love you because I need you.’ Mature love says ‘I need you because I love you’.” ~Erich Fromm

How often have you thought you were truly in love, only to lose those in-love feelings after a few months? Have you believed you were in love but discovered that you were ‘in need’ instead?

Emotional Dependency

  • Are you making up the person you think you are in love with?
  • Have you discovered from past relationships that you have a tendency to idealize people?
  • Do you project onto them how you want them to be, rather than how they are?
  • Are you primarily focused on how your partner treats you, rather than who he or she really is inside?
  • Are you overly impressed by how this person makes you feel...

Your Lifestyle Has Already Been Designed (The Real Reason For The Forty-Hour Workweek)

We buy stuff to cheer ourselves up, to keep up with the Joneses, to fulfill our childhood vision of what our adulthood would be like, to broadcast our status to the world, and for a lot of other psychological reasons that have very little to do with how useful the product really is. How much stuff is in your basement or garage that you haven’t used in the past year?

The real reason for the forty-hour workweek

The ultimate tool for corporations to sustain a culture of this sort is to develop the 40-hour workweek as the normal lifestyle. Under these working conditions people have to build a life in the evenings and on weekends. This arrangement makes us naturally more inclined to spend heavily on entertainment and conveniences because our free time is so scarce.

Global Survey: Internet Access Should Be A Human Right

Source: www.commondreams.org | Original Post Date: November 24, 2014 –

global-survey-internet-access-should-be-a-human-right

Without Internet accessibility for all, ‘world’s full potential for prosperity and innovation’ will be stifled, think tank says.

An overwhelming majority of Internet users around the world—83 percent—believe that affordable access to the Internet should be considered a human right.

That was among the findings of a survey by the think tank Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI) and conducted by global research company Ipsos. The results were presented Monday in Ottawa, where the Global Commission on Internet Governance, an initiative by CIGI and Chatham House, is holding a two-day meeting.

“Overwhelming global public support for the idea that access to the Internet should be a human right also shows just how important the Internet has come to freedom of expression...

Are You A Highly Sensitive Person? Here’s How To Protect Your Energy

sensitive-personality

We all need to create healthy boundaries. Whether you’re highly sensitive (like I am) or not, this is an essential daily practice that helps you protect your energy and harness it in ways that have a positive impact.

I’ve always been sensitive to the energy of words, the news, how people were treating each other or animals and struggles in different parts of the world. For most of my life I was unaware that I was absorbing so much information around me — but I take in more than just what meets the eye, and I feel things strongly. I often can tell when someone on the world stage is lying, or I can feel what’s not being said when someone is talking; I feel the pain or emotion in a situation, and I empathize deeply with others’ experiences.

Cannabis Oil Provides New Hope For 5 Year Old Boy With Grade-4 Brain Tumor

We don’t often post personal stories on Wake Up World, but this one really touched a chord. This article is the first in a series from a father who recently turned to Cannabis Oil to help heal his son from a grade-4 brain tumor after conventional radiotherapy treatment failed. We feel this story is a timely reminder of the human side of the medicinal cannabis debate. — Editor.

Hope for Jayden – a Father’s Story

Just over 12 months ago, my son Jayden was diagnosed with one of the worst conditions currently known in the medical world; a Grade 4 Glioblastoma multiforme brain tumor. At the time he was 4 years old. The consultants gave my wife and I the horrific news after completing a biopsy and MRI Scan, which confirmed the illness. It was a freak of nature really, as 2 days before the diagnosis Jayden fell of a spinning roundabout at a local children’s park. He became extremely unsteady on his feet so we called for an ambulance asap.
