GFP Commentary: Mixed up a batch of this this morning. Works very well. Tastes good, makes you mouth feel good, and doesn't irritate sensitive teeth. Coconut oil moisturizes and cleanses mouth and xylitol is a good anti-bacterial. This recipe gets an A++. Happy Smiling!
Toothpaste Ingredients:
- 5 parts Calcium powder or Calcium Magnesium Powder
- 1 part Diatomaceous Earth (optional- contains trace minerals and silica. UPDATE: A reader noted that DE can be abrasive and is not needed with the baking soda, so if you don’t have DE… no worries!)
- 2 parts Baking Soda
- 3 parts Xylitol Powder- This ingredient is not completely necessary, but just keeps it from tasting bitter.
- 3-5 parts coconut oil to get desired texture
- Optional ingredients: Essential oils for flavor (mint, cinnamon, and orange are all good), Grapefruit Seed Extract, Myrrh and Trace Minerals

A good alternative!
I can say from my own experience this is a great swap for fluoride-based toothpastes!
I have just been using baking soda and coconut oil and it works well. I recently tried sticking a few cloves in the solution; not sure if they are doing anything but it may help the overall oral health, since cloves are awesome in their own right.
Yes!
I actually make and use this toothpaste (without the DE) and adding peppermint oil. It really does work well, tastes good, and is easy to make. Highly recommend it!
This I'm gonna try ASAP!!!
On edit: Found it, never mind! That site is great!
