I came across a video on YouTube this week of a Rod Stewart song called Faith of the Heart. The words brought back lots of memories, not all of them nice, and for obvious reasons, too, given my life.
But it was so appropriate and timely that I should hear it again now on the brink of what are going to be massive breakthroughs in communicating the information that I have spent nearly a quarter of a century putting together.
The song says: 'It's been a long road getting from there to here ... It's been a long time.'
It has certainly been a long road back from the brink of apparent self-destruction in 1991 when I first blinked into the spotlight of mass ridicule at a time when because of an enormous transformation in my sense of reality I didn't know what planet I was on, let alone what was happening.
It was at this point that I accepted an invitation to appear on a prime-time chat show watched by a considerable percentage of the British public – even more so given the revelations about my 'insanity' that people were reading in the papers.
Occasionally I receive negative feedback from a reader and I appreciate their taking the time to write. Although I read and respond to their emails, my response reflects my belief that every teacher has an audience and they may not be part of mine. I must admit that receiving criticism was a little shocking early in my writing career, but of the millions who read my newsletters and messages each week, there are bound to be a few people who do not like something and who will voice their displeasure.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A minor (Kp=5) geomagnetic storm is underway around the poles. The cause is a medium-speed (~500 km/s) stream of solar wind that hit Earth's magnetic field during the late hours of Feb. 28th. Reports of auroras are coming in from around tthe Arctic Circle, like these photographed by Frank Olsen of over Norway:
"The weather here in Vesterålen has been terrible for more than a week," says Olsen. "I was so glad the clouds parted so we could catch the auroras at 1:30 am local time on March the 1st."
More auroras are in the offing. NOAA forecasters estimate a 20% to 25% chance of polar geomagnetic storms on March 2-3 as the solar wind continues to blow. Aurora alerts: text, voice.

Good News at Last on Drought
Heavy rainfall in the Southeast and a pair of heavy snow events in the Plains have made dents in the long-term drought in each region.
According to the latest Drought Monitor report released Thursday from the National Drought Mitigation Center, "extreme" drought, the second worst category of drought in this weekly analysis, has been erased from the Southeast region (from Alabama and Florida to Virginia) for the first time since August 2010.

Big Story Weather from February 27: The snow started to finally wind down in the Northeast as the low began to push outwards towards sea. High pressure sliding into the country has started its cool down effects with some places running 10-15 degrees below normal.

Rusty, the former tropical cyclone, was fading fast as it spread tropical rain southward over Western Australian.
In its wake, the storm left some tree and structural damage, as well as swollen rivers.
