On Tuesday morning, southern Mexico was stunned by a 5.5-magnitude earthquake that was centered near the country's Pacific coast. Earthquake sirens sounded and people flooded into the streets as buildings as far away as Mexico City, 227 miles away, were reportedly swaying.

No damage or injuries have been reported to the Associated Press. The initial quake occurred at 9:04 a.m. Eastern time, and a 5.1-magnitude aftershock was reported eight minutes later.

Snowstorms, heavy rain, damaging wind and bitter cold have marked much of the winter throughout Europe, but especially the U.K., as multiple pushes of cold Arctic air have arrived in the region and brought significant departures from normal.

On the other side of the coin, the storminess responsible for the cooler temperatures has also led to well-above-normal precipitation. Rain and snow have been almost twice the normal amount for much of the U.K. and Ireland.

Unexplained ground cracks, tear earth in Arizona

LUEPP, ARIZONAIt’s not something you see every day on the Navajo Nation, but a crack in the earth has been forming for a long time now and no one seems to have a clear answer. It just sits east of Flagstaff on Luepp Rd and about one mile west of Leupp gas station. It’s gotten so big, that they had to fence it in. According to the U.S. geological survey, they say earthquakes come and go in the northern parts of Arizona, which also covers the reservation, it’s not big enough to rattle down buildings but with the recent collapse of highway 89 near Page, some local residences wonder what mother nature has in mind for the vast reservation. On March 18, we reached out to the Navajo Nation land and geology department, they did not have a particular person to give us an answer, so no one was readily available to explain what that huge gash was in the earth. –Navajo Post

Snow has continued to pester Europe over the last few days and has become a serious problem across portions of the UK and northern Europe. Transportation has endured delays, major sports events have been cancelled, and more cancellations are expected.

Many awoke to snow today across portions of the UK, especially across Scotland. Twitter has been inundated with pictures of castles and Scottish roadways with moderate to heavy snow cover, especially for late March.
