In 2000, more than 6000 people were asked this and similar questions. Then in 2014, researchers at the University of Carleton in Canada did a follow up study. They found that, over those 14 years, around 9% of the participants had died. They also found that people who reported a strong sense of purpose were 15% less likely to be amongst those who had passed away. This applied to every age group. If they reported a strong sense of purpose they were 15% more likely to still be alive. (1)

According to humanistic psychology, we have three basic motivational factors that determine the work of the Ego-dominated mind. One is the need to belong to somebody, the other is the need of safety, and the third is the need of appreciation.

These demands or needs appear in our life in the order listed above, and they are hierarchically connected to each other. It means that the need of safety only becomes important when our need to belong to somebody has already been satisfied, at least to a minimum extent. Similarly, the need of appreciation will be important when we already belong to somebody (it can be an individual or a group), and our need of safety, stability has been met to a certain degree.

Satisfying these needs is of primary importance for us, as they provide the foundations for our individual existence and personal identity. All this also suggests that our personal identity is basically social, as belonging to somebody, safety and appreciation all depend on other people.

Love Is in the Air — The Magic of Synchronicity

Because Valentine’s Day is nearly here, I thought it would be fun to treat you to another excerpt from my book Active Consciousness [1]. The selection below underscores the power and magical ability of synchronicity to bring us in contact in time and space with those we are meant to spend our lives with.

As a quick reminder to those of you unfamiliar with the term, a synchronicity is a coincidence of seemingly unrelated events that share a common meaning. A typical example of synchronicity is when the beloved clock or watch of an individual breaks or stops at the precise moment of their death. These kinds of “meaningful coincidences” were first identified as a unique phenomenon by famed Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung, who also coined the term “synchronicity” [2]. A more in depth description of synchronicity and its relationship to phenomena based on similarity in vibrations (such as Sheldrake’s morphic field and homeopathic medicine) is described in my book Active Consciousness.

You are the perceiver of your life and the goal-setter. Set the dial of your life to encouragement and expand your perception.

Life comes to you. It may come as a feast. It may come as a crust of bread. Life is for you no matter how bounded it looks like to you. In truth, life is unlimited. Life is your work-place, and it is your playground, and it is, despite your perception, a Holy Place. Angels in human form live on Earth. This is the Truth. Earth angels don’t need wings to fly, for they have souls that can take them anywhere and everywhere. Earth angels are not relegated solely to Earth. Earth angels have hearts and minds that can fly anywhere and everywhere with dispatch and take you here and there with or without your awareness. There is no such thing as at a distance, although distance seems real enough to you. There is no distance, yet you take a journey from here to here and everywhere and nowhere, and I go with you.

Scientists: Aliens May Have “Seeded” Life On Earth

Scientists in the UK are somewhat baffled by a tiny, circular object that they’ve been examining. It’s microscopic, no bigger than the width of a human hair.

The UK’s University of Buckingham reports that the small metal globe was discovered by Milton Wainwright, an astrobiologist, in dust gathered by a balloon in the Earth’s stratosphere, high over the surface of our planet.

“It is a ball about the width of a human hair, which has filamentous life on the outside and a gooey biological material oozing from its centre,” says Wainwright, a Nobel Prize Winner.

“One theory is it was sent to Earth by some unknown civilization in order to continue seeding the planet with life,” Wainwright hypothesizes.

“This seeming piece of science fiction — called ‘directed panspermia’ — would probably not be taken seriously by any scientist were it not for the fact that it was very seriously suggested by the Nobel Prize winner of DNA fame, Francis Crick,” said Wainwright.
