Big Story Weather from May 8: The severe weather season got started across the Southern Plains and the Eastern Rockies yesterday. There were a total of 5 tornadoes found in Idaho, Kansas, Colorado and Texas. Hail was reported in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Wind damage was reported across Oklahoma and Kansas. Flooding rains continued across the Mid-Atlantic and into the Northeast. The heat was felt out West with many places well above normal.
Big Story Weather Discussion for May 9: Low pressure moving into the Northeast will bring another round of showers from Boston to New York City and into Baltimore. Some places could see heavy rains. The storm system over the Southern Plains will be kicking again today. As the afternoon goes on severe weather will fire up again over this region. Some severe weather will remain in place this morning as well. High pressure will keep most of the West dry and warm again today with increased fire hazards in the region.
