Dear Carolin,
Did you know commercial whaling is illegal and yet it still happens?
Last year alone, Icelandic commercial whaling vessels killed 134 endangered fin whales and 38 minke whales. And they're gearing up for a new hunting season as you read this.
In fact, Iceland has already determined how many whales it plans to kill over the next five years.
We need to hold Iceland accountable. Urge President Obama to take action now and impose economic sanctions on Iceland.
Last week, the US Department of the Interior found Iceland in breach of international law. Now, President Obama has 60 days to decide what to do about it. This is our chance to tell him to take a strong stance against these illegal actions. President Obama needs to impose economic sanctions on Iceland until it brings an end to its commercial whaling.
Tell President Obama to increase pressure on Iceland and protect these endangered whales.
Outcry from concerned scientists, US political leaders, and the International Whaling Commission has failed to stop Iceland's whale hunt. It's time for stronger action, and we need your help.
