As they accumulate more and more wealth, the very rich have less need for society. At the same time, they've convinced themselves that they made it on their own, and that contributing to societal needs is unfair to them. There is ample evidence that this small group of takers is giving up on the country that made it possible for them to build huge fortunes.

Yes...then they hide it in offshore banks. The CEO's used to reinvest in management and labor of their companies. Now it's
all ego and competition, following the enterprise/investment capital routine. My only satisfaction is watching some of these
moguls go down with the banking disaster. Someone I know lost $100, 000 CD somewhere!! He is trying to sue the bank now.
What a system. It' all virtual now with no basis of value, inflated as well. I do not feel guilty even owing school loans. Frankly
because we are such a capitalist nation, that program is mismanaged as well. I think that if I'd had more opportunity to teach what I
learned or apply my field of study and make some money towards the repayment, I would have taken it.
