With Saturday evening’s Full Moon we come to a crux of a decision point. The Full Moon always represents a stage of flowering or maturity of what has come before it in the lunar cycle, as the impulse of the New Moon finds its fulfillment. In this case the Sun and Moon in their opposition make aspects to all the outer planets, and in particular they form a difficult T-square to Saturn, ensuring that if we are wise we will slow down and think everything over at least twice before proceeding. We are also at the very same time paradoxically encouraged to take bold action in support of our dreams, since Jupiter and Mars are also powerfully configured. Finally, the presence of Chiron in the mix of energies tells us that whatever we do decide, there will be an element of pain involved in our choices.
Chiron is the fulcrum of the lever that brings us into emotional stability in spite of everything, but we do best when we pay careful attention to his teachings, which come to us in the form of triggering of our previous wounding. There are places inside all of us that need to be recognized and accepted as the first step to healing, having been left ignored and neglected in some cases since childhood. We are all, in this era of transformation, coming face to face with our fears as well as our longings, and so the message from inner realms becomes vitally important as we attempt to navigate these troubled waters.
Saturn currently trines Chiron, so that they are working in concert, and Saturn also aspects both Pluto and Uranus, each within less than a degree of exact; to Pluto a close sextile and to Uranus a bi-quintile aspect that is almost exact, within 22 minutes or about a third of a degree. Saturn with its sense of limitation therefore brings together the incipient Uranus-Pluto square that is still active over these winter months, even though not nearly as close as last summer, or as it will be in the coming spring time frame. The combination with Saturn means that reactivity to massive change is as much a part of the psychic landscape as the truly revolutionary factors represented by Uranus and Pluto. But this is only natural since rapid movement away from the familiar brings up our fears as well as our gratitude.
Venus is very much invoked as well at the time of this Full Moon, sitting in late Capricorn semi-square to Chiron in Pisces and closely aspected by Jupiter. Venus also resides at nearly the exact mid-point of Saturn and Uranus, a lovely configuration that results in a quintile to each side. So we are enjoined to somehow balance the polarities and take in both the conservative holding back of Saturn and the revolutionary and forward-going spirit of Uranus, thus acknowledging each of these parts of ourselves.
We can of course choose to hold ourselves back from transformational activity; to stay with the familiar and the safely known; this is the message of Saturn. We can also decide to move forward with our lives in all their semblance of struggle and ferment, and in such a way that the necessary integration of all our energies will continue, as eventually it must.
