Let The President Know Where You Stand On The Keystone XL Pipeline

Ra-Raela's picture

This is no "Keystone Cops" comedy. This pipeline only lines the pockets of the rich, it pollutes your groundwater, and the environment and doesn't do anyone any good.

President Obama's Decision is Coming Soon...
Submit Your Comment to Stop the Keystone XL Pipeline!

Tell President Obama: Oppose the Keystone XL Pipeline!

Dear Carolin,

Soon, the president will decide whether to approve the Keystone XL Pipeline, expanding production and exports of one of the dirtiest fossil fuels on the planet: tar sands oil.Submit your public comment to oppose Keystone XL!

President Obama has promised to curb climate change and begin our much-needed transition to renewable energy, but over the last six years, his actions have done more to promote dirty fossil fuels like tar sands and fracked natural gas, with his "all of the above" plan.

You've heard about how bad fracking is, and tar sands oil is just as disastrous for our water and our climate. For every barrel of crude tar sands oil produced, three barrels of fresh water are used to extract it. Most of this water is so polluted afterward that it can only be stored in manmade ponds, where it can contaminate local waterways with chemicals like ammonia and cyanide.¹

The pipeline itself threatens every community it passes through, as well as the many major rivers it crosses in the United States.² Building this massive piece of infrastructure could lead to devastating oil spills that would be virtually impossible to clean up, contaminating our fresh water for years to come. Tell President Obama: don't make polluted water and dirty energy your legacy!

The truth of the matter is, our country desperately needs to make the transition to renewable energy if we hope to protect our planet from climate change.

The oil industry, which has been trying to push Keystone XL through approval for years, thought this pipeline was a done deal. But strong opposition in the environmental community has made this a nationally contentious issue, and we can't let up now! There is only a week left to submit your public comment opposing Keystone XL. Write yours today!
