Major Fast Food Chain Stops Serving Pork At Hundreds Of Restaurants After Finding Inhumane Conditions At Supplier

Here's something I didn't expect to hear today, hundreds of Chipotle restaurants will stop serving carnitas, a Mexican pork dish, because of the cruel treatment of the pigs. While I'm still not a fan of major corporate food chains, I'm happy to support this kind of thing. Compassion trumping profits is a wonderful sign of change. From csmonitor.com:

In New York City on Tuesday, a sign on the door of a Chipotle location stated, "SORRY, NO CARNITAS."

Arnold said most of the issues related to the violations concerned the housing for the pigs. Chipotle demands that its suppliers raise pigs in humane conditions with access to the outdoors, rather than in cramped pens.
