Natural Remedies For: Allergic Rhinitis

It's that time of year, your eyes itch and swell, your nose is either running like a faucet or so stuffy you can't breathe.

Are you tired of the side effects from prescription or over the counter medications?

Benedryl can dry your sinuses but also the rest of your mucous memebranes. Don't be surprised if after a few days of use you end up with a nose bleed from the drying effects.

Other medications can cause drowsiness and impaired judgement, leaving you in a foggy haze. That's no way to enjoy this beautiful world!

Here are some natural remedies that you may find beneficial. You can find these ingredients in your cupboards or from your local health food store.

They work best when taken for the duration of the allergy season and they work to minimize or eliminate your symptoms.

* Vitamin B5 (also called pantothenic acid) may be taken in a dose of 100 mg daily for a month.

Vitamin E 400 mg taken daily for four to six weeks.

* Limes helps flush toxins from your system. Squeeze 1/2 of a lime in a glass of lukewarm water and 1 tsp of honey. Take it first thing in the morning for the allergy season duration.

* Gingko biloba 120-160mg daily is one of the best herbs for respiratory allergies. The leaves of gingko biloba contain vital properties which help in activating platelets in the body which in turn help in fighting those allergies. It also contains natural antihistamines and anti-inflammatory properties.
(People taking anti-clotting drugs should not take ginkgo.)

* The Reishi mushroom has been widely used in Chinese medicine for problems like allergies, asthma, hypertension and various other liver problems. The Reishi mushroom is one of the most effective natural herbs for allergies as it contains powerful anti-inflammatory properties and antihistamines which can effectively fight a variety of allergies including asthma. When bought in powder form, it makes a potent tea that can be consumed 1-2 times daily.

* And of course there's always the wonderful Neti Pot! Here's a link you may find useful: http://www.neti-pot.com/how-to-use-a-neti-pot.cfm

Probiotics also help with allergies.  And, last year I took a cellular memory restructuring / DNA activation course for my healing arts license CEU's.  This year, for the first time (in this life:) I am not suffering miserably from seasonal allergies.  I have no doubt getting some of that dormant DNA going helped!

Thanks for sharing all the great tips!  I love this web site!
