(editor's note: In time the Healing Ships will be available to everyone and our technologies of light and sound will advance so that we can build our own healing centers here on Earth.
Awakening within us all is the ability to completely heal ourselves.
As our bodies evolve from carbon-based to a crystalline-based structure, we must all learn how to properly nourish and treat our physical body.
Through this "Natural Remedies" segment I hope to introduce you to methods of healing you may not have tried, as well as building your knowledge base so you can help others.

Back pain - we've all experienced it. Physical activity, inactivity, stress, posture, a previous injury can all creep in and put a painful halt to your plans.
The first signs are aching shoulders, tense neck muscles and a heavy feeling in your head. Left untreated, these can progress to muscle spasms, disk damage, numbness and tingling in the arms or legs and ultimately -more damage and down time.
Applying an ice or cold compress immediately after an injury reduces the pain and muscle inflammation. You don't need to go buy a fancy cold compress, simply pull that bag of frozen peas from your freezer. It is easy to shape and fit to any area of your back; when you're done, back in the freezer it goes! You can also fill a small paper cup with water and freeze it. When you peel off the paper cup, you have a great ice massage tool that feels so good when your spouse or a friend massages that painful spot.
After a day or two switch to heat to relax the muscles and reduce pain. A quick hot pack can be made by submerging a bath towel in a sink of water as hot as your hands can handle. Wring out the towel, fold it to the shape of the affected area and put the folded towel in a plastic trash bag. This will keep the heat in longer and keep you dry as well. For an added benefit, add laurel or lavender leaves to the hot water. This infusion into the towel will have you saying, "Ahhhh......."
The cat stretch is one of the most effective exercises you can do to develop and maintain spine flexibility. Kneel on all fours, and slowly arch your back drawing your chin to your chest. Hold for 5 secondes. Then raise your head and push your stomach down towards the floor; and hold for 5 seconds. Do this slowly and gently for 5 minutes per day.
The bark from a Willow tree contains salicylic acid, which is the active pain reliever ingredient in aspirin. You can make your own Willow bark tea by placing 1 tsp. of bark in 1 cup of boiling water. Let it steep for 15 minutes. The salicylic acid is both a pain reliever and reduces inflammation.
Acupuncture can help reduce back muscle tension by making adjustments in the flow of Qi (energy) throughout the body.
Swimming is probably the best form of exercise for people with back pain. The water supports your weight and uses muscles in the back, abdomen, arms and legs giving you all-over conditioning. Note: avoid the breast stroke and the butterfly stroke as these require arching your back.
If you can't get to a pool, you can always do "dry swimming." Lie on your back on a rug or exercise mat and alternately raise your left arm and your right leg making swimming movements for a few seconds. Rest, then repeat the same swimming movement with your right arm and left leg. Work your way up to performing this maneuver for up to 10 minutes a day.
