Obama Requests Authorization From Congress For Another War In The Middle East

Looking to extend the perpetual "War on Terror", Obama has requested authorization of military force to combat Islamic State. Apparently it hasn't yet dawned on the U.S. federal government that war itself is a form terrorism, and the kind of chaos that war brings helps to create an environment that promotes extremism. Then again, maybe this has dawned on the U.S. government, and they're being controlled by war profiteers.

It's not just hippies saying that war is not a real solution to terrorism, even the U.S. military itself predicted what would happen nearly a decade ago:

A stark assessment of terrorism trends by American intelligence agencies has found that the American invasion and occupation of Iraq has helped spawn a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the Sept. 11 attacks. [source]

Yet despite all this, the Obama administration now wants to increase military presence in the Middle East. Here's more from AP:

President Barack Obama sent Congress legislation Wednesday to authorize military force against Islamic State fighters, asking lawmakers to "show the world we are united in our resolve" to defeat militants who have overrun parts of the Middle East and threaten attacks on the United States.

In urging Congress to back military force, the president ruled out "enduring offensive combat operations," a deliberately ambiguous phrase designed to satisfy lawmakers with widely different views on any role for U.S. ground troops.
