Thousands of Romanians marched to commemorate 24 years since the 1989 21 December bloody anti-communist Romanian revolution and to protest against parliament approving a bill that increases the immunity of deputies from corruption charges, against a Canadian company's plan to set up Europe's biggest open-cast gold mine in Romania, as well as against plans by U.S. energy group Chevron to explore for shale gas in a poor eastern region of the country.
