Lund University in Sweden recently did the first randomized study to compare group mindfulness treatment with individual cognitive behavioral therapy on patients who have depression and anxiety.
“Group mindfulness treatment is as effective as individual cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in patients with depression and anxiety, according to a new study. This is the first randomized study to compare group mindfulness treatment and individual cognitive behavioral therapy in patients with depression and anxiety in primary health care.” - Lund University
Medicine is starting to see evidence of the need for holistic care in their practices. We no longer can just treat the symptoms people having with physical and mental illness. We need to see the person as they are… real people! Individuals that have cultures, beliefs, families, dreams, hopes, and spiritual beliefs.
