Yesterday's EF-1 tornado in Edgewater was the first EF-1 or higher rated tornado in that area since Aug 2008.

The Volusia County Property Appraiser's office said Tuesday that the tornado caused more than $1.5 million in damages to 90 homes, destroying five. The National Weather Service estimates winds reached up to 110 mph.

In July of this year we had a near-record LOW tornado count. A tornado DROUGHT.

Average in July 110 tornadoes. This year we had 24. I've been saying that I suspect that backlash from that to come during the winter time with freakish weather and such because things are apparently way off balance from the norm.
