It has been revealed that Malawi Congress Party Leader Reverend Dr Lazarus Chakwera has pledged that if given a chance to rule Malawi he will make homosexuality lawful by exercising the presidential decree. Chakwera has said this in private meetings he has been having with party’s potential donors including the British Ambassador to Malawi in attempt to win support for his party.
However this has not gone well with other members of the Malawi Congress Party who believe that the man of God who abandoned his flock to follow politics had made a wrong decision.
“We have told him between God and money he should put God first but now and then we have seen him courting potential western donors by promising them that is they fund MCP he will make homosexuality lawful by force without seeking the mandate of parliament. Even his trip to America he is meeting with gay rights campaigners and begging them to fund Malawi Congress Party so he can return back the favour once elected.” Said one of the key executive members of the party.
It has been confirmed that Chakwera has been having series of secret meetings with the British Ambassador assuring the envoy that Malawi Congress Party is the only political party the westerners can trust to make homosexuality lawful by force in Malawi.
“The western governments are looking for a loophole to impose homosexuality in Africa just as Barack Obama is issuing threats to the Republic of Uganda to make homosexuality lawful, and Chakwera had seen this as an opportunity to make money and he has been courting many western government authorities that he is the right conduit to make things happen in Malawi and that they should start supporting him and be against the current government because the current government has said it should be up to the people of Malawi to decide on this than imposing on them.” Said the source.
Recently , MCP president REVEREND Chakwera has been canvassing western embassies in Lilongwe that he needs support because he will repeal the law that makes homosexuality, “unnatural act.” His view was later backed by party spokesperson Dr Jessie Kabwila who portrayed homosexuality as not only part of “Western culture” but “normal life” that must not be condemned in Africa.
Rebel groups within Malawi Congress Party and the Assemblies of God where Reverend Chakwera used to preach have not yet issued a statement if they are happy with these developments.
