Dear Carolin,
The town of Snook, Texas is only home to around 500 people. However, it's also the location of a forest full of centuries-old trees -- including one that an arborist certifies has been around for more than 500 years. Now, those trees are in danger of being destroyed so the state can build a road.
These trees have withstood centuries of turmoil. They were alive when the first settlers came to Plymouth Rock, and when the Civil War tore the country apart. They sheltered Americans through the Great Depression and proudly arched to welcome soldiers home from World War II. The largest among them has a trunk that's 25 feet around.
A Care2 member, Phyllis J., started a petition to stop the construction. Will you join her in saving the trees?
Thank you for taking action,
Kathleen
