Triple Water Astrology – The Anaretic Degree! Sun in Taurus Newsletter/2015

Sun enters Venus’ sign this year in a powerful manner. Looking at the ingress chart, Mercury (thought and communication) and Venus (cooperation and collaboration) are in mutual reception, in other words, in each other’s signs. Both aspect Neptune (creativity, imagination, the ideal) in his home sign, Pisces. Concrete communication meets with intellectual collaboration, with a spiritual element mixed with the two. Sun in Taurus signifies concentrating energy (the modality of Taurus is fixed), suggesting heightened endurance and a focus on the material that can be implemented to help complete projects. Mars is a bit out of place in the Taurus sign, but he is still Mars; the qualities of Taurus that fit Venus well are not overly suitable for Mars, but, he forms a nice aspect with his overlord’s (Pluto’s), linking energy to power. Neptune is also an overtone of Venus, and the ingress shows nice opportunities at the beginning of the month with energy and power in harmony; and given the work and effort, cooperating with individuals might lead to merging with a greater collective.

Mercury and Venus might also be in mutual reception towards the middle of the zodiacal year (Sun must be between Leo and Sagittarius, inclusive) when Mercury is in Libra and Venus is in Virgo. The advantage of planets in mutual reception is that they are always “bouncing off” of each other. Therefore, expect an emphasis on being social, people looking sharp, and exchanging more detailed information and intellectual type discussions than usual with Mercury-Venus. Mars-Pluto and Venus-Neptune create additional opportunities for relating to others and using energy and developing perspectives and personal power. Many variations and subthemes in the heavens this month.

Let’s see what the transits might portend…

Career

Saturn remains in Sagittarius for the entire month, but he retrogrades significantly backwards. Of interest, his ‘lilt’ of energy (the dwadasama) moves from the Capricorn dwad to the Sagittarius dwad. The retrograde quality indicates that authority tends to have the ‘on or off’ quality, and after May 10 the lilt of Saturn’s energy is very purely Sagittarius, which is a lighter feel for Saturn outside of the Capricorn dwad that begins the month. Working with structure and being disciplined holds a subtle advantage until May 10.

Mercury, associated with commerce, moves into his home sign of Gemini overnight on April 30. After April 30 is opportune for networking, socializing (inside or outside of the office), making short trips and running errands, and definitely for gathering information. Mercury will retrograde at the end of the month, which is nothing to dread. Expect a great deal of networking, or hardly any at all, or a torrent of information, or a relative dearth of it (along with the usual popular media articles about Mercury retrograde). I would caution that Mercury will retrograde while he is squaring Neptune. Both planets are strong by sign, so verifying what is said and written (avoiding confusion and deception in communication) will be critical after Mercury enters Gemini and especially as the end of the month approaches. I do also like the potential advantages of the tense square with two planets in dominion (working hard to find creative methods of networking, reaching out spiritually to siblings, reaching mass audiences, etc.).

More directly, Sun in Taurus, and Mars in Taurus for most of the month, represent a great chance to “impress the boss” or move your own agenda forward. Taurus Sun encourages implementing hard, steady work in an effort to continue towards reaching your short and long term goals. Mars conjuncts Admetos (Transneptunian) from May 8 to May 11, and Sun conjuncts Admetos from May 18 to May 20 – windows of time for being persistent and steady, and very earthy/energetic type days for completing work. Tapping the Mercury-Venus pair on the shoulder this month is a good idea if Admetos’ manifestation makes you feel like you’re going on circles or “stuck” (in other words, ask for help and ideas from other people!).

Saturn tends to enter the mix somewhat often with the personal planets this month, particularly Mercury, Venus, and Mars. This signifies an added emphasis on work and career this month, heightening the earthy potential of Sun in Taurus. Work and effort, properly executed and with a bit of luck, might result in decent material gains. Apollon (Transneptunian; fame and renown, expansion, multiplication) retrogrades back into Libra this month, which is a big deal. Work, and other aspects of life, will again, briefly, be less behind the scenes and power-driven, and more cooperative and socially oriented.

I advise caution regarding past issues of the “mucky” variety resurfacing and being recycled, especially at work, until after about May 12. Not the cheeriest of predictions, but forewarned is forearmed. The bright side is that being internally disciplined and working with structure can result in a feeling of catharsis, melding and fixing various parts of a project or situation into something new and productive, and reconciling issues in a social context this month, especially up until the May 12 date.

Finance

Taurus Sun probably encourages more buying, especially for small-ticket items that can add up. Watch for more spending on beautification, decorations, clothing, meals out, jewelry, and other tangible items that give a sense of security, increased esteem, or enjoyment. I really like the idea of consulting others (assuming they’re in your corner) regarding big-ticket items, even something like determining what people are really saying in online reviews about something. If you feel disciplined enough to do serious research into buying something, the Saturn-Mercury opposition can work well, and I like Venus in Gemini rather than Cancer for this, which gives a narrow window of May 1 to May 6 for researching and gathering information regarding big-ticket items. (Mercury is stronger by sign than Saturn in the opposition, and I like the two working together; networking with authorities, disciplined thought).

Sun in Taurus is indeed apropos for saving and planning ahead in regards to your personal assets and wealth. Jupiter is making a subtle, but strong aspect to Pluto this month (“expanding power” which can also mean increasing wealth), and the planets in Taurus will trine Pluto for a significant amount of time during the month. Focusing on wealth creation can be of benefit this month. “Slow and steady wins the race” is a hackneyed term, but appropriate. Opportunities abound at the end of the month with a yod formed by Jupiter and Mercury pointing to Pluto, for financial and other goals you might have. Timing certain goals for completion on May 20 could pay off.

I am not really in the loop regarding the Macroeconomy much anymore, other than as an interested spectator. I keep thinking of Christeen Skinner’s name as I write this. If you have an interest in financial astrology, she issues a free monthly newsletter and you can find her site by searching her name on the internet.

Relationships

The stable quality of Taurus (earthy and fixed) is conducive to endearing relationships. Venus in Gemini is more intellectual and social, and relationships will tend to be more of the mind until Venus enters Cancer on May 7. After May 7, relationships will tend to be more centered around the home environment and adhere to a more emotional component than with Venus in Gemini. Close relationships are characterized by a sense of abundance, according to the Juno-Jupiter conjunction, which is strongest at the end of the month. The pair has has quite a long run together with Jupiter stationing and then going direct again. Experiencing personal growth and as part of being a couple has been a potential boon for quite some time. Sun and a few other planets square Jupiter and Juno by sign this month, and at times by aspect. This can undo the benefits of the two together to some extent, but the squares also suggest that giving the effort (in this case, with close relationships) can lead to the greatest benefit and progress. Juno aspects Poseidon (Transneptunian) from May 1 to May 7, indicating that close relationships can be a source of wisdom and enlightenment.

Marriage and family is of greater emphasis from about May 2 to May 4 with Venus opposite Cupido (Transneptunian). Mars picks up with an aspect to Cupido just as Venus leaves aspect to Cupido, creating a nice masculine/feminine dynamic in marriage and family at the beginning of March. This contains powerful symbolism, because Venus’ glyph comprises part of the Cupido glyph, and Mars will aspect Cupido while he is in Venus’ sign. Sun in Taurus will aspect Cupido towards the end of the month, and with Sun in Taurus, Cupido is rather busy and significant in the transits this month. Even those who are single (such as myself!) can enjoy visiting an art museum or paying attention to various aesthetics, which is very Cupido. Neptune in Pisces also mixes into this theme well.

Mars entering Gemini can be tough in regards to his opposition to Saturn. Jupiter-Juno mitigates this somewhat, and having a “success despite the obstacles” type of feeling in relationships can help move you along after May 11.

Spirituality

Neptune continues to steal the show, because he is in his dominion in the spiritual Pisces sign. He does not quite make another trine to Poseidon this month, something to look forward to after Sun enters Cancer in a few months. Neptune is at the focal point of two t-squares this month with Saturn and Venus, then Saturn and Mars. This raises the potential of using various disciplines to reach spirit, particularly regarding use of rituals. Towards the beginning of the month, the emphasis is on involving other people, and towards the end of the month this involves using personal will. The mutable nature of the t-squares suggests adaptability and flexibility in spiritual practices.

Of interest, Neptune is more or less aspected by Mercury, Venus, and Mars twice each this month (in other words, aspected by Mercury in Taurus, then Gemini, and so on with Venus and Mars). It gives the impression of a great deal of variety in spiritual practices. Jupiter edges away from aspect with Neptune as the month progresses. The first week or so of Sun in Taurus (April 20 to 26) is the best opportunity for experiencing abundance through spirituality. Juno’s stronger connection to Neptune, lasting until about May 10, suggests that experiencing spirituality via close relationships is a strong potential in that time frame. Venus trine Neptune starting around May 8 repeats the theme of experiencing spirituality via relationships and Venus-Neptune trine in water signs is an awesome opportunity to experience being part of a relationship leading to connecting with a greater collective, a theme that started off the month as well.

That is what I’m seeing this month. Thanks for joining me in the cosmic ride this month and happy solar return to friends with Sun in Taurus! See you next month. Mike
