Warm daytime temperatures have combined with a blanket of cloud to bring the warmest April night in up to seven years for parts of the nations south.
Widespread overnight temperatures in parts of South Australia and Victoria were between five and nine degrees above average. Some centres even remained 11 above the average, making for an uncomfortable nights sleep.
