Yes, love yourself. Stop looking for acceptance from outside. This hasn't worked for the thousands of years people have been on this planet, isn't currently working and wont work in the future. Love can't be found outside of yourself because what appears to be external is only an illusion. Love lies deep within, are you willing to look inside yourself? Most people aren't, looking inside offends the ego. Self-awareness and the ego are not compatible. In awareness we realize we are neither the body nor the ego/mind.
Our search for love from other people is what spoils most relationships. We look to our partner for happiness and when they fall we fall with them. This isn't love, but co-dependency. In a truly loving relationship when one person falls the other is there to pick them back up. Both partners are pillars of strength, together yet individual, helping each other along this path we all walk.

HJ: Forgiving yourself can be hard to do if you hold tightly to rigid views of right and wrong, as these keep you trapped in the belief that your lack of compassion towards yourself is justified, when in fact, it is not. Refusing to forgive yourself for past ‘mistakes’ (this is a terrible word and should really be eradicated from the english language…) is a choice you make that locks you into suffering and prevents you from reaching your full potential. Just as easily as you made the choice, you can ‘un-make’ it and release the burden of your past permanently.

My Tribal name is Goolabeen. I am a fully Initiated Law and Medicine Woman of the Alleyerwere Tribe of Utopia from the Central Desert of Australia.
But I am better and more widely known as Auntie Beve, particularly in the Jails of NSW, where I have just retired after 29 years working with Aboriginal prisoners – being there for them 24/7 as an Elder, an Aboriginal Art and Culture teacher, suicide Counsellor and Mental Health Worker.
As I was born here in Woy Woy NSW 78 years ago, I speak as an Elder of the Darkinoong Tribe from the Central Coast of NSW. And today, I speak on behalf of all Central Coast Aboriginal women with the support of the Aboriginal men and of many non-Aboriginal people who know of the importance of preserving the Sacred Aboriginal Dreaming Track.
