The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has stepped up its resistance to the UK government’s austerity measures, as it plans to expand its coming protest march by staging a general strike with 6 million workers.
The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has stepped up its resistance to austerity measures in Britain.
The TUC’s ruling body agreed to contact unions over a possible strike that would range across the public and private sectors such as school teachers, nurses, fuel tanker drivers and airline cabin crew.
A TUC spokesperson said, "We will now consult with member unions on the practicalities of a general strike. Whether members support such action will be the first step in that."
