Blizzard warnings are in effect for parts of six states as Winter Storm Draco begins to emerge from the Rockies and into the Midwest.
According to Winter Weather Expert, Tom Niziol (Twitter | Facebook), Draco was named based on the following impacts:
- Significant, widespread heavy snowfall for the mountains of the West, with as much as 3 feet likely through Wednesday ("phase one" of the storm)
- Heavy snowfall for lower elevations, including population centers of the Midwest ("phase two" of the storm)
- Major interstates impacted
