Oldest Rock Art: Nevada Petroglyphs May Be North America's Most Ancient Carvings

Researchers found that petroglyphs discovered in western Nevada are at least 10,500 years old, making them the oldest rock art ever dated in North America.

On the west side of Nevada's dried-up Winnemucca Lake, there are several limestone boulders with deep, ancient carvings; some resemble trees and leaves, whereas others are more abstract designs that look like ovals or diamonds in a chain.

The true age of this rock art had not been known, but a new analysis suggests these petroglyphs are the oldest North America, dating back to between 10,500 and 14,800 years ago.

Rudie Fett discovered the crop circle on the outskirts of his 4ha farm on Monday.

A predominant theme at the Contact in the Desert UFO Conference Friday through Sunday was the role of “citizen science” in getting out the message that we are not alone in the universe.

“The problem is a spiritual crisis, and the solution will be spiritual as well,” Greer said to cheers. “Contact will not be made looking down the barrel of a laser-guided missile system.”

Henry David Thoreau’s essay “On the Duty of Civil Disobedience” written in 1849 is as relevant to the times now as it was then. We have a right to stand up and question any institution or individual that claims authority over us, just as he did then. In fact, it is our duty as citizens to do so. Thoreau decided that he could not be associated with the government of his day without disgrace. How about our government today? Can we associate with it without disgrace?
