Firefighters are battling several blazes sparked by lightning strikes across southern parts of the state overnight.
A fire at Uleybury near Gawler burnt 100 hectares of farmland near Kentish Road after it started about 4:00am.

An emergency flood alert for northern Dalby on Queensland's Darling Downs has been cancelled as heavy rain continues to affect the state's south.

Dozens of homes have been flooded in Dalby with the Myall Creek peaking at 3.21 metres overnight and breaking its banks.

Hottest Hobart summer on record

Hobart set a record high temperature of 41.8 degrees on January 4. - ABC

Hobart has recorded its hottest ever summer and the driest in more than a decade.
The capital city averaged 23.3 degrees, breaking the 2001 record of 23.2.

Australia breaks hottest summer record

The Bureau of Meteorology has confirmed that Australia has just experienced its hottest summer on record.

The bureau says the previous hottest summer - measured by average day and night figures from across the nation - was in 1997-98.
