4 Big Health Problems That Can Be Fixed With Proper Hydration

woman-drinking-glass-of-water
Drinking water is incredibly good for you. Which makes sense since our bodies are mostly water. Depriving yourself of adequate amounts of water can be incredibly detrimental to your health, and overtime can cause some serious and painful diseases. There are three diseases that can be easily avoided with the consumption of water.

Kidney Stones

Guys, women say that passing a kidney stone is similar pain to childbirth. Imagine the pain of birthing a child out of your penis, and you’ll be grabbing that glass of water in no time. Drinking two liters of water a day reduces the risk of kidney stones by 50%, and that’s pretty cool.

Urinary Tract Infections

While UTIs aren’t quite as big of a bummer as kidney stones, they still suck. If you consume a sufficient amount of water and make sure to urinate when you need to...

HIV Is Weakening, Causing Fewer Cases Of AIDS

HIV-budding-Color

A new study of 2,000 women in Africa is showing that the evolution of the HIV virus is weakening it, reducing its ability to cause AIDS. Scientists said that their research suggests a less virulent HIV could be one of several factors that turn the tables in the fight against this deadly pandemic, eventually leading to its demise.

“Overall, we are bringing down the ability of HIV to cause AIDS so quickly,” said Philip Goulder, a professor at Oxford University who led the study. “But it would be overstating it to say HIV has lost its potency. It’s still a virus you don’t want to have.”

Super Typhoon "Hagupit" now a major threat for Philippines

Super Typhoon Hagupit, locally known as Ruby, is about to bear down on the Philippines this weekend. More than 30 million people will be impacted by this cyclone. Some areas in its path are still trying to recover from Haiyan, which will leave them more vulnerable to the impacts of Hagupit.

According to JTWC the system is moving west at speed of 11 km/h. JMA reported the system's minimum central pressure of 915 MB and gusts of 280 km/h.

Hagupit rapidly strengthened into a super typhoon late on December 3, and soon after reached maximum sustained winds over 255 km/h (160 mph), the equivalent to a Category 5 hurricane.

There is a Zen story: Two monasteries existed side by side and both the masters had small boys to run errands. Both the boys used to go to the market to fetch things for the masters -- sometimes vegetables, sometimes other things.

These monasteries were antagonistic towards each other, but boys will be boys. They would forget the doctrines and meet on the way and talk, enjoy. It was really prohibited to talk -- the other monastery was the enemy.

One day, the boy from the first monastery came and said, "I am puzzled. As I was going to the market, I saw the boy from the other monastery and asked him, `Where are you going?' He replied, `Wherever the wind blows.' I was at a loss as to what to say; he puzzled me.

The master said, "This is not good. Nobody from our monastery has ever been defeated by the other monastery, not even a servant, so you must fix that boy. Tomorrow, ask again where he is going. He will say, `Wherever the wind blows,' so you say, `If there is no wind, then?' "

The boy couldn't sleep the whole night. He tried and tried to conceive of what would happen the next day; he rehearsed many times. He would ask and the other boy would respond and then he would give his answer.

The next day he waited on the road. The other boy came and he asked, "Where are you going?" The boy said, "Wherever my feet lead me."

He was at a loss as to what to do. His answer was fixed; reality is unpredictable. He came back very sad and said to the master, "That boy is not trustworthy. He changed and I was at a loss as to what to do."

So the master said, "Next day when he answers, `Wherever my feet lead,' you tell him, `If you are crippled and your legs are cut off, then?' "

Again he couldn't sleep. He went early to wait on the road. When the boy came he asked, "Where are you going?" And the boy said "To fetch vegetables from the market." He became very disturbed and said to the master, "This boy is impossible: he goes on changing."

Life is that boy. Reality is not a fixed phenomenon. You have to be present, spontaneously in it -- only then will the response be real. If your answer is fixed beforehand you are already dead, you have already missed. Then tomorrow will come but you will not be there; you will be fixed in the yesterday, that which has passed. All the minds which are too verbal are fixed like this. Go to a pundit, a scholar, and ask, "What is God?" Before you have asked he will start answering. Your question is not answered because even before you had the question this man had the answer. The answer is dead; it is there already, it has just to be brought from the memory.

This is the difference between a man of wisdom and a man of knowledge. A man of knowledge has ready-made answers: you ask and the answer is already there. You are irrelevant, your question is irrelevant. Before the question, the answer exists; your question simply triggers the memory.

If you go to a man of wisdom he has no answers for you; he has nothing ready-made. He is open, he is silent. He'll respond but first your question will resound in his being, not in his memory. Through his being the response comes; nobody can predict that response. If you go the next day and ask the same question, the response will not be the same.

Georgia May Be The Next State To Legalize Recreational Marijuana

florida-police-email-voters

In 2008, 59% of Alaskans voted for John McCain, the Republican presidential candidate, over Barack Obama, the Democrat. In 2012, 55% of the state’s voters voted for Mitt Romney, the Republican presidential candidate, over Barack Obama, the Democrat. In 2014, 52% of Alaska voters voted to legalize recreational marijuana. Why do these numbers matter? Because it shows that blue states, like Colorado, Oregon and Washington, aren’t the only states where marijuana can be legalized. And that energy is on its way to deep south and deep red Georgia.

The leading bill is expected to be filed in the General Assembly and would allow Georgians to use cannabis oil to reduce seizures that accompany epilepsy and some other illnesses. But another state senator is taking a much broader approach to the matter...

7 Unusual Uses For Honey

As it turns out, honey is a lot more useful than a tea or oatmeal sweetener. It has a trove of healthy values other than being eaten for better health. Here are some of the more unusual, lesser known uses for honey.

  1. Treating wounds. Only non-life threatening wounds, of course. If you have bumps, scrapes, scratches or bruises, applying a bit of honey to the area will help soothe the pain and heal faster.
  2. Hangover remedy. The high fructose content of honey allows your body to process alcohol faster. If you’re having a real rager of an evening, take a spoonful of honey before bed and again in the morning. Don’t remember to hydrate!
  3. Treat red parasite infections. This is one I definitely didn’t know! a 1:1:1 mix of water, vinegar and honey might not taste great, but it helps get rid of mild red parasite infections.
  4. Cleansing the skin. Honey is a natural exfoliate. Wash your face with honey and rinse with lukewarm water. Warning: this face wash might be tough if you have facial hair. Did I learn this from experience? We’ll go with maybe.

The Giant Galapagos Tortoise Makes An Incredible Comeback

giant_tortoise_glapagos_hatching

In the 1960s, the Espanola Galapagos tortoise was in pretty tough shape. There were only 15 individuals remaining – 12 females and 3 males. But fortunately, that was the animal’s low point. 50 years of dedicated conservation effort has brought the population of the tortoise up to 1,000 individuals! More importantly, their recovery is stable, and it looks to be on its way up.

In 1973, the Galapagos Islands National Park Service started a captive breeding and reintroduction program for the giant tortoises. Through this program, they have been able to breed and release 1500 of the captivity raised tortoises back onto the island of Espanola. Unfortunately, the non-native goat populations on the island had to be culled.

Fear and Racism in the Matrix of Maximum Confusion

Dylan Charles, Editor
Waking Times

Like a ship lost at sea, battered by the angry seas, life goes on in the matrix of confusion.

At the whim of our social engineers, the media narrative changes every week now, with new crises and concerns emerging without warning, tossing public and political sentiment and discourse to and fro, while keeping us in the dark about the real, deeper issues at play in our world.

What about the Orwellian permanent war? Silence. Fukushima and the wholesale industrial rape of the earth? Silence. The Bankster criminals that are looting everyone and enslaving us all to phony debt? No perspective on this either.

Daily Message ~ Friday December 5, 2014

So many of you have experienced things that were masquerading as love, that weren’t love at all. Again we say, love does not hurt, love does not reject, love does not betray, love does not judge or control another. The hurtful experiences that you may have had are caused by the absence of love, not by love itself.

So we urge you to redefine what love is through your wisdom and new perspective. What is your new definition of love? Can you see now that love only includes, uplifts, supports, celebrates, encourages, nurtures, understands and connects? Once you are clear about what love really is, you are far better able to see situations in their truth, and will never confuse the absence of love for real love ever again. ~Archangel Gabriel

Full Moon in Gemini – Earth’s New Language

Full Moon in Gemini Earths New Language Full Moon in Gemini Earths New Language

By Simon Vorster

Contributing Writer for Wake Up World

The time has come around again where we find ourselves experiencing the essence of the full Moon’s vibrational pattern, and once again there is an incredible amount of vibrational shifting going on for us.

There are many layers to this Full Moon, starting with the sixth of seven Uranus-square-Pluto aspects. This is a huge deal. We have Jupiter turning retrograde on the 8th of December, Pluto is squaring the nodal axis, Saturn is in its final days in Scorpio as it begins to make its way into Sagittarius, and last but not least Mars moves into Aquarius.

The Golden Age Paradigm of Abundance

The Golden Age Paradigm of Abundance Freedom Dolphin 1024x640 The Golden Age Paradigm of Abundance

By Joshua Eagle

Guest Writer for Wake Up World

Today, an epidemic of materialism and ego/identity illusion has spread like wildfire amongst all cultures in which capitalism has reached. It is interesting to note that when European imperialists first landed on the continent of North America and started taking “possession” of the Native lands, these native peoples looked at their fellow Earthly beings as having a mental illness of which was ever consuming to both the individual as well as the planet.

Yet what shocked the Natives most was not the notion that these new continental arrivals thought they could take possession of Earthly lands, rather it was that there clearly was no end to the satiation of the imperialists’ material conquests.

7 Paradoxical Truths to Embrace for a Meaningful Life

To say something is “clear as mud” isn’t complimentary. We prefers things to be logical, neat, and linear. The problem is, life doesn’t play according to our rules.

Light is the perfect example and metaphor for life; paradoxically behaving like a wave and particle—sometimes it passes through glass, sometimes it bounces off. Likewise, our rigid rules for life need to be traded in for a flexible approach; less like concrete, more like water.

Here are 7 paradoxical truths to embrace for a meaningful life:

1. To be and to do.

In the blue corner, Benjamin Franklin says “Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing;” in the red corner, Alan Watts says, “The meaning of life is just to be alive. And yet, everybody rushes around in a great panic as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.”

Both express important aspects of life. Watts is speaking against the rat-race that robs us of the joys of simply being present. Franklin highlights the potential we possess to leave an indelible mark—that great achievements are made by people no different to ourselves.
