Optimism is not superficial. It is not pie in the sky. It is one of the most supportive tools in life you have.
Optimism is success-oriented. It is the opposite of pessimism. Pessimism is denial of what life could offer you if you were open to it.
Pessimism, upheld as realism, is definitely playing the odds that you see for yourself as not so hotsy-totsy. Odds are often not good, yet where is it written that life must be made up of playing only fabulous odds? In this way, you may well keep great opportunity away from you. Don't count yourself out so easily.
You may think you are super-intelligent to point out to yourself and to others how unlikely the chances may be of hitting your target. What do you care if you have a one in a thousand chances to win when you win? For sure, if you don't go for it, you won't win.
Let's consider for a moment that in having the courage to go for what you want regardless of the odds in or out of your favor, you are stirring nature. You give life an opportunity.
If you give up on yourself beforehand, you set a low vibration for achieving. If you have an idea to start a business, let's say, and everyone in the world says your idea will never work, and you give up on your idea, what are the odds of achieving your dream? They are nil.
This happens every day. Someone listens to someone else, and gives up his dream.
It also happens that someone who doesn't listen to what other knowledgeable people say may succeed amazingly. The dreamer proved true, and the critic, no matter how good his advice was, was mistaken.
A safe bet is not all there is. Nor do safe bets always win.
A defeated attitude isn't likely to make dreams come true. There is much in the world to substantiate what I am saying to you. There are myriads of people whose dreams proved true. Alas, to think of all the good dreams that never were given a chance to grow.
Does this mean you must always invest everything into your every dream? Of course not. Yet I want to tell you that a lot depends upon your dream and your mettle over what other people say.
Did everyone believe in flight and believe the Wright Brothers could do it? Not at all. And if these two brothers had not brought airplanes to the world, someone else would have, yet they played their part, and it can be said that they won. Look what happened because they followed their dream.
Who believed in Einstein? He didn't even talk until he was six. Fortunately for him and for the world, Einstein stuck to his guns. He never consulted with others for permission to go ahead and think as he did think.
Careers, as well as businesses, put together by skilled people, can also show that success odds do not always win. Beginners also do not always win. You've heard, for instances, about Abraham Lincoln who lost many elections before he won one.
Whoever discovered how to get a fire going from scratch -- we don’t know how many times he tried before he made fire. This is the same as to say, he didn’t give up too soon.
Dare once in a while. Yes, We are speaking of possibilities. How much does an idea mean to you, really mean to your heart? It doesn’t have to mean everything to you, yet, when it does, why not give your idea a chance to be born? Not from ego-gratification but from the insistence of the idea itself.
So what if you don’t succeed? You took a stand. You gave it all you could give. Congratulations!
