Crystals: Much More Than Just Pretty Stones

Crystals host a dazzling aesthetic, yet do they hold mystical or healing properties?  Crystal are believed to vibrate at the same level of humans, so they combat illness and promote wellness.  They’re much more than pretty stones and attract a number of practitioners and interested parties worldwide.

A Brief History

Crystals are formed when gases and heat from the Earth’s core rise toward the surface.  The solidification is recognized as holding ‘the salt of the Earth,’ a combination of inner and outer elements.  Priests, shaman, and religious leaders have used crystals for healing and blessing purposes for centuries.

Unique Properties

Aside from a range of colors and shapes, crystals worn, or used by practitioners, host unique healing properties.  Several colors are used in Chakra healing; colored stones are placed on the body to generate healing properties.  Red is associated with movement, protection, and survival skills.  Additionally, pink crystals have a way of bringing matters to a resolution.  It also has a calm and reassuring effect.

Placebo or Solution?

Those dedicated to visits to the physician and pharmaceuticals see crystals as pretty ornaments more than sources of well being.  However, practitioners exercise crystals to address a number of common ailments, such as headaches, restlessness, and lethargy.  For example, rose quartz or amethyst relieves tension associated with headaches, and tiger’s eye alleviates lethargy and inspires greater energy.  In comparison, medical doctors may prescribe aspirin and future blood tests.

Comfort of the Mind

Crystals are used to heal psychological ailments too, erupting blockages of emotional recognition or expression.  For example, amber neutralizes a negative state of mind; in combination with rose quartz, a practitioner can detoxify the body of the negative emotion altogether.

More Colors

Aside from red and pink described above, a spectrum or color is used for healing and wellness promotion, depending on individual needs.  Green, associated with the heart, inspires calmness and expression of feeling; an emerald promotes clarity and calmness of heart.  Light blue is associated with the throat and communication.  Turquoise helps with public speaking and dispels negative energy in the room.  White cleanses other colors and energy around it and known for clarification.  Moonstone cleanses tensions and settles the abdomen area.

Crystal-Body Connection

Why does placing crystals on the body promote well being within?  The human body is a large electromagnetic system.  Crystals are electromagnetic conductors formed by nature.  Crystals can promote, harness, and conduct energy throughout the body via electromagnetic impulses.  Crystals are much more than pretty stones to a number of practitioners and clients who rather deal with amethyst and lepidoloite than expensive doctor visits and pharmaceuticals.  Discussion of which crystals are good for particular periods and people is sometimes paired with psychic readings or fortune telling.

Cornerstone of the Future

The long history of crystal use (Mayans and Native Americans still practice rituals today while ancient Egyptians crushed crystals for makeup and dyes beholding special powers) is the cornerstone of present and future practice.  The history of stone use and the centuries-long belief in a connection with the body and wellness secures future practice.
