Buddha was walking down the road one day. There was a ‘good’ religious fella’ who had heard of Him and His ways, so he set out to test Him. He caught up to The Buddha and began calling Him degrading, slanderous names; casting aspersions at Him that He does the work of the devil, that He will burn in hell. He spit at Him, condemning Him and after all attempts to rile His feathers the fella’ stopped The Buddha in the path and said, “I heard of you. You think you’re some kind of God or something. You go around living in peace and harmony while the rest of us, out here in the ‘real world,’ work for a livin’ and fight for what we believe in, but not you, you think you can just breeze through this thing called life. So let me ask you, how on earth do you go around being some kind of guru with all this crap going on out here?

The Buddha looked into the eyes of the fella’ with a calm, loving gentleness and said, “May I ask you a  question?” The fella’ replied, “Well sure, go ahead.” Buddha asked, “If you offer a man a gift and the man does not accept the gift, to whom then does the gift belong?” To this, the fella’ replied, “Well, if the other guy don’t want it and I gotta’ keep it anyways, then it’d be mine.”

The Buddha said, “I don’t accept your gift,” and continued walking merrily down the path. Alikened unto the teapot that sings merrily, even though it’s up to its neck in hot water.
